the usage of "alot" and the usage of "ADD" do not annoy the hell out of me but I acknowledge their incorrectness.

Why is 'ADD' incorrect?

"The previously used term ADD expired with the most recent revision of the DSM. Consequently, ADHD is the current nomenclature used to describe the disorder as one distinct disorder which can manifest itself as being a primary deficit resulting in hyperactivity/impulsivity (ADHD, predominately hyperactive-impulsive type) or inattention (ADHD predominately inattentive type) or both (ADHD combined type)."

I didn't know that.

However, if someone just has attention deficit and not hyperactivity, I would still rather use 'ADD' than "ADHD predominately inattentive type".

as someone who legitimately had that shit, It does make it hard to concentrate on anything, the drugs do help but left me feeling hollow inside, I was able to keep it in check with caffeine and mental training and I see no reason that anyone couldn't do this

Because most people running around proclaiming they have ADD when not getting their work done don't actually have ADD.

ADD is when you're focused on something and somebody can be talking to you and you are so into what you're doing you don't notice them. ADHD is when you're constantly moving, figity etc...

Maybe you were on the wrong kind of meds...i've been on several and I'm finally on the correct meds and it doesn't make me feel hollow inside.

Autism is completely different. To be correctly diagnosed with either ADD or ADHD or you can have a little of both. It's hell to be tested and get diagnosed!!

Sorry, that's silly.

It could be that, or more likely, it could be the other way around, i.e., that you are unable to focus on your task because an object/person is making noise or talking in the background (whether to you or someone else).

In fact, you don't need background noise or conversation. ATTENTION DEFICIT, i.e., you can't pay attention for a reasonable amount of time, regardless of external disturbing stimuli.

ADHD causes me to lose track of a conversation 5 seconds after a person begins talking to me.
