5k run, eat a dozen donuts. Sounds familiar to me.

At least it is an actual challenge and that they aren't just eating 12 chicken nuggets from Chick Fil A. And as AndyMac said they aren't trying to claim it as their own idea so more power to them.

the people who started the Krispy Kreme Challenge should start a non profit and hold events across the country

It is annoying that they call it a "unique fundraiser" though

it's pretty obvious at this point that the idea of a few ncsu students to do this took off and became a great marketing (and tax write off) for krispy kreme so they are encouraging it at all their stores

just be proud that ncsu is the original site for such a feat and baseline for charity

^ haha I'm guessing those must be from Thailand. The Japanese flavors always have Japanese written underneath the English.

They had wasabi Pringles a few months ago. Those were the shit

Also, I think it's cool that what some states students did inspired other schools to do it, I also think it's really cool when the other schools say that the idea came from us. I just think it's lame that UNC tried to one up us with 12 chicken nuggets.

But to each his own.

^^^ actually they did it on purpose.

"You are saying, "A Krispy Kreme run to raise funds for a cure for type 1 diabetes?" YES. First the theme of this year's JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is "Freedom" (freedom from diabetes), so people are participating in this event so that those with type 1 diabetes will have the freedom to eat donuts. Secondly, I hope you will become aware of JDRF and all that it does for kids living every day with type 1 diabetes. Finally, we want to dispel the myth that those with diabetes cannot eat sugar, white flour, white potatoes, etc.and that all of us, with or without diabetes should eat certain foods in moderation."

although it is a little funny that it's a challenge to eat a dozen when they say it's ok in moderation. The point is though that it's ok to eat those kinds of foods if you're diabetic.

UNC is also doing a run now (except it's 12 chicken nuggets instead of donuts):
http://triangle.bizjournals.com/triangle/stories/2010/04/05/daily3.html

12 chicken nuggets is nothing, they aren't matching anything. I've done that just snackin' before. Whimps.

It's all good. But the whole thread is basically what you just said. 12 nuggest =/= 12 KK donuts.
