I had this once in Beaufort and I like it more than NE chowder. Anyone know how to make it? I think it might have had cornmeal in it as a thickener but I could be making that up.

The Clam Chowder Cookoff is going on in Carolina Beach. I'm tempted to walk over and try some.......

I have never had clam chowder...I like oyster stew though

Yeah it's got cornmeal in it. A lot of folks will put cornmeal dumplings in it and that thickens it some. Still kinda watery compared to NE clam chowder, and a lot more peppery. I like it a lot better.

it's very watery, and I much prefer New England style.

^^^^ yeah same. NE is good when you're wanting something heavy but I like that NC chowder is a good anytime soup
