Most people I know either eat just the cake or just the icing. What's your preference?

if it is cream cheese frosting, i will eat it. (with the cake)

but if it is something super sweet and thick (fondant?) i remove like 1/2 to 3/4 of it and eat it with the cake.

I only like butter cream icing. Sometimes cream cheese icing if it is with carrot cake. I usually eat both at the same time. I don't demand ice cream.

okay, I will definitely eat carrot cake if it's moist.

Though usually I just eat the icing and the walnuts.

my wedding cake was the best cake I have ever eaten. It was a white vanilla cake and it had fresh fruit on top of the butter cream icing. I def ate the icing first that time. The cake part was also delicious and super duper moist, even without icing.

[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 2:19 PM. Reason : um....the wedding cake cost more than my dress. by like 70 dollar bucks. ]

I like cake the most. I use to brush most of the icing off and just have a thin layer on top and then eat them together.

If the icing is good...then i'll eat a chunk off the top and then do the same as above with a thin layer of icing on the cupcake.

Eat both, prefer icing.

Fondant is not suppose to be eaten..you are suppose to peel it back and eat the buttercream underneath. I think you might be referring to buttercream icing, which is made of powered sugar, vanilla flavoring, and shortening or butter, It's usually super sweet and thick.

Yeah fondant is the worst....I get that it allows you to have pretty looking cakes and all, but it tastes like crap and if that's the case I might as well have a cake made of plastic cause I ain't eatin that shit

I just made an amazing chocolate using a unique recipe which I am sure no one has ever used. Here are the ingredients:

Betty Crocker's Dark Chocolate Cake Mix []

Unsweetened 99% cocoa baking chocolate (German), chopped, 75 g
Cacao beans (Ecuador), raw, finely chopped, 6
Cocoa powder (German), 3 tbsp

Bananas, mashed, 2 (separated batter into 2 equal parts, and added to 1 half at the end)
Zucchini, finely shredded, 1
Carrot, finely shredded, 1
Prunes, quartered, 15

Next five products by http://www.bobsredmill.com
Wheat bran, 2 tbsp
Oat bran, 2 tbsp
Flaxseed meal, 2tbsp
Rolled oats, 3 tbsp
Whole grain pancake and waffle mix, 5 tbsp

Water, ~1 cup
EVOO, 3 tbsp (could have done without any oil at all)
Eggs, 3
Natural yogurt, low-fat, 170g tub

Herbs Provencale, dried, 1/4 tsp (thyme, marjoram, rosemary, oregano, savoury, basil, tarragon)

I was also going to add 1 shredded apple (makes cakes/brownies very moist) as I have done it before, but with all the other non-baking ingredients I added for the first time ever (zucchini, carrot), I thought it wasn't a good idea as the cake might not bake and/or fall apart once baked.

Cake turned out extremely moist, and delicious. More like a rich dessert than a cake. And the banana one is even better tasting.

I have been making [relatively] healthy cakes and brownies for a long time, but I must admit, always from commercial mixes. In the next couple of years, I am going to learn proper [healthy] baking from scratch so that when it is time for my daughter to have a bit of cake on her birthdays, she eats delicious and nutritious stuff, not commercial shit full of sugar, white flour, nasty fats, and millions of colors, flavors, and preservatives.

BTW, the dried herb mixture added a very nice barely noticeable flavor.

it's worth noting that most cakes are decorated with frosting, not icing

the words aren't interchangeable

but if you kids are eating a bunch of petit fours instead or something, chow down

best thing on cakes is real dairy whipped cream (get heavy cream and whip it).
