If you had the choice to move to DC (actually Fairfax, VA) or Miami (actually Coral Gables) which would you choose and why?Assume you would have the same job at both locations, as well as same apartment and amenities.

DC. I have more connections in that area and I'd be equal driving distance from family/friends north and south of DC.

Fairfax? What are you... like 40? 50?

4/23/2010 9:53:07 AM

4/23/2010 9:54:39 AM

4/23/2010 9:56:39 AM

ha - i live in falls church and i'm at $1,300 for a one bedroom (not including utilities) the ones i saw in coral gables were $1,300 - $1,600 for a one bedroom - just a quick glance though

See, finding a place under 2k in Georgetown was really tricky last year. We rented one-bedroom (not even--it was a loft) for 2400 a month.
4/23/2010 10:42:34 AM
yea - and that's why i don't live in the city i'm perfectly happy being a little further out
4/23/2010 10:44:19 AM
^^^ ga damn....my mortgage isn't that much
4/23/2010 10:50:17 AM
most people would live in glover park v. georgetown proper anyway, and the rent in glover park is not outrageous compared to the rest of the city
4/23/2010 11:07:32 AM
My ex was not the brightest and would only settle on Georgetown proper or Foxhall Village (one of the Tudor-style houses that are $$$ to rent)
4/23/2010 11:10:16 AM
sounds like a snob

Miamib/c we've been looking at florida real estate and jobs for 5-ish years now in hopes to one day live there; though it's a far cry from where we've been looking (Sarasota or Tampa), it would at least get us in the state
