maybe i'm just way too ocd or bored or something but i HATE my condo. i mean i love the layout, the location, etc but i hate all of my stuff (besides my bed). i'm just tired of having a bunch of unmatched furniture. some from my parent's house, some from craigslist, etc.

i don't do matchy matchy either so i don't want some pottery barn set or anything. i just want stuff that looks good together. like REAL a real wood tv stand that i can actually paint (now i have a fake wood laminate one).

and i have a fake wood bookshelf too that i can't paint either. i'm just so sick of it but obviously don't have unlimited funds. the thing is i don't even like theodore alexander or pottery barn or like ashley furniture. i'd rather just find something that no one wants at a yardsale or flea market and make it my own.

i really would LOVE to build a shelving unit too with different sized wooden cubes (for my wall w/ the tv) but those wooden cubes (even unfinished) are expensive (like $30 each - and i'd need like at least 15).

how did you decorate your house??? did you just buy a bunch of matching shit from pottery barn (etc)? or do you have a bunch of mismatched stuff from various places like me? i don't mind that it doesn't 100% match but at least things like my desk are solid wood so i can change it at anytime and change the pulls on it, etc. it even seems like basic unfinished furniture is kinda pricey.

i'm interested in any of y'alls DIY decorating ideas. even if it isn't furniture - have you painted an accent wall? etc etc.
