JK! Some fucking how she has survived extreme drug abuse unlike such folks as Billy Mays who I love!

But she should still get props...she is definitely in the Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Bradley Nowell camp...and don't hate on my Sublime reference...dude lived and breathed music...ibFroshKiller

Amy has too many skills though...its a shame a lot of people only know her as a drugged up paparazzi shit and not her AMAZING vocals and pipes, definitely is a skilled singer in this american idol era of contrived bullshit

a few references cited:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=fepbbiFqA08 (song is about her pet bird who dipped)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=sZo8gUCt2hM (song is about some real shit, making love wise)

You were supposed to post a picture of Vanessa Carlton and caption it "Good night, sweet princess".

Whoa whoa whoa.

She's as skilled as Sublime?!

Holyshit, that must make her, like, a recognizeably mediocre artist credited as something more important than her talent really amounts to!

Damn, I'm so glad we can claim her as a great artist of our generation.

She most definitely deserves to be compared to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, who are obviously her contemporaries.

Amy is ahead of Sublime in pure talent, but maybe you didn't grow up in teh 90s and "get" 40 oz or their self titled joint...thats cool

the point of this thread isn't Sublime its Amy's great vocals which unfortunately get overshadowed by her drug use and assault charges and other shit that take away from her great talent

also why hate on these jams

They were a mediocre band. There's tons of them out there. They're not legends, and they don't deserve to be in the same sentence with Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Neither does Amy Winehouse.

This was my claim. I stick by it. I don't hate Sublime, but you're giving them waaaaaaaay too much credit.

I agree. I loved their music growing up, but Sublime's reputation definitely benefited from Bradley's death in that their stock as a band rests substantially on the possibility of what might have been.

Much like Nirvana.

It's a shame Amy's drug use will overshadow her talents. Her Back to Black album is awesome, with Rehab actually being one of the lesser songs.

see Netstorm's posts ITT...its like he went back 5 years and copied some of your posts word for word...I guess he thinks he's original or something

although this thread has literally nothing to do with Sublime, I just made the mistake of listing Bradley as a musician who died before his prime

i know you're trolling

but i'm just going to say this because i've never said it anywhere

amy winehouse has one stone cold brilliant pop record under her belt

which is exactly one more than sublime, even if you culled their entire catalog to assemble the best 32 minutes of music

sure, it's mostly due to mark ronson and the dap-kings, but whatever

I wonder if Netstorm's age is correct in his profile...cause if so he was 3 years old when 40 oz came out...he must be an expert

^you never heard Frank? cause its better than Back to Black

frank is okay, but it's not really a pop record

and it's certainly not better than back to black

your opinion that its not better than Back to Black is certainly wrong

Damn TreeTwista10 caught me, I copied another user's opinion about a widely agreed upon mediocrity, and I totally never listened to the band at all! I'm just a sham! WHY IS MY LIFE BREAKING DOWN AROUND ME?

Quickly vinylbandit, we can't stay here, he knows the secret to music criticism!

Sublime comes in around number 15 for me of most listened to artist.

Also I was not trolling, who gives a fuck about a "pop belt"; Sublime owns Amy. She hasn't even died yet.

maybe i just liked smoking weed in the mid 90s more than yall so therefore Sublime clicked with me during my wild teenage years

but thats not the point of the thread, the point is that Amy Winehouse has mad talent, yet some people fail to realize that because they only see her as the tabloid mess posted around the internet and television, and not the chick with the super awesome voice

they're different enough that one's preference can be attributed to a preference in style as much as the quality of one over another
