My question is, if you've already failed twice, why wouldn't you read through the whole book?

My serious suggestion is take a driving course. You'll be surrounded by high school kids but they'll give you all the fundamentals you need to pass the test.

I barely passed the CDL test, but I passed it the first time.

And that test is freaking hard, especially when you have to take 5 different tests to be certified in everything you have to do.

-obey all signals and signs
-stop smoothly
-accelerate smoothly
-be able to perform a 3 point turn

CONGRATS, here's your license.

How about making people intentionally spin out their vehicle and show them how to recover from a spin, as well as learn how to prevent one. How about making someone perform panic stops from highway speeds and recognize that the pulsing sensation coming from the brake pedal is the ABS doing its job. How about making people prove that they are competent enough to handle their car in an evasive manuveur.

It's a freaking joke, especially given that the average automobile these days has enough horsepower to top 140 mph and weighs almost 2 tons.

One of the funniest things I've seen was in the Avent Ferry DMV when I went to renew my license. An asian lady was taking the written test on the computer and she called her husband from the waiting room to come help. One of the female DMV officers saw what was happening and snapped on her. She kicked her out of the DMV office.

The thought crossed my mind that she may have had a language barrier and was asking her husband for help understanding the actual question, but it really doesn't matter. She should have asked the DMV officer for help if that was the case. I don't know what could have been going through her mind that made her think it was ok for her to get her husband to come over there and help her with the test.

I have to get my license renewed before the end of next month. I honestly don't care and am not worried about any of the testing I just am not looking forward to having to leave work early and getting stuck in stupid DMV lines.

Which facility should I go to for this, the Cary one perhaps?

^^^ I once overheard a woman asking the DMV officer if her daughter (who had just complete the exam) could retake it because she missed one question so the remainder of the questions were one off causing her to fail. They told her no that she would have to come back the next day at the earliest.

When I had to renew mine I was just worried about the road signs, but I just looked at the poster on the wall while I was sitting there waiting to be called up and I passed it just fine.
