It's only happening when the light is switched off, but the dimmer setting doesn't matter. Any ideas? Is it supposed to do this. It's probably been doing it for a while, I just don't want it to be dangerous.

Flickering meaning sparks behind the switch? If so just pour some gas on it, that happenned to me once and that fixed it.

Well that's really all that could be going on behind there. I have shopped dimmer switches recently and none of the ones I saw had any bulbs behind the cover.
