i, too, have started mucking with visio 2010
5/20/2010 9:39:24 PM
no BJs, he just had to get rid of it for the $$$ after he graduated college. sweet deal. it's so pretty. it even takes USB sticks. scans for songs/photos, plays them, slide shows, etc. thought that was icing on the cake. found the port by accident LOL
5/20/2010 9:41:11 PM
i got a brand new 42" for $599 from sam's club. buying electronics from sam's is great b/c they have a lifetime return policy as long as you keep your receipt. so pretty much, if the tv quits working i can go back and get another tv no matter the manufacturer's warranty or anything like that.
5/20/2010 9:46:39 PM
^you seriously believe that?to the OP, you can get a brand new, better-quality TV for that price right now.
5/21/2010 1:22:55 AM
sorry, bud. You should have talked him down some or just went and bought a new one.Best Buy regularly sells 42" Dynex 720p's for $499.00. Not exactly the same as your vizio, but nearly as good for $60 less
5/21/2010 1:32:42 AM
I paid about the same for a brand new panny plasma.... so...
5/21/2010 8:06:44 AM
^^^ my grandfather has used computers purchased from costco for 6 months and returned them, no questions asked.
5/21/2010 8:53:05 AM
dude needed money for coke.
5/21/2010 9:08:27 AM
Congrats on buying a new TV, and being happy with your purchase. Ignore everyone else.
5/21/2010 9:12:18 AM
^ Exactly.
5/21/2010 9:14:43 AM
5/21/2010 9:59:18 AM
Thats awesome, I've been shopping at Sam's for a long time but I never knew that. I'm gonna have to remember that
5/21/2010 11:45:24 AM
5/21/2010 11:51:53 AM
^Eh...I just got a 26" 720p Samsung for my bedroom for like $380. I have a super-nice 55" 1080p Samsung in my living room, and I just wanted something small so the girl and I could watch TV in bed on the weekends if we so chose. In that case, the 720p was a good deal for me because I didn't want to spend several hundred more on a decent 1080p.Usually, I'd agree with that though.
5/21/2010 11:54:32 AM
lol Dynex
5/21/2010 12:14:16 PM
lol pissing contest
5/21/2010 12:15:24 PM

5/21/2010 12:31:52 PM
hahahaha
5/21/2010 12:34:36 PM
People complain too much about their nuts being ridden. If you apply the right kinds of pressure, it's fun.
5/21/2010 12:40:00 PM
i just bought a new LCD tv too!you paid much less than me
5/21/2010 12:45:55 PM
i just got a 40" samsung 1080p TV for $80.
5/21/2010 12:50:59 PM
if the tv is less than 42 inch, then it doesn't matter if it's 720p or 1080p. Check slickdeals, they have 42 inch 1080p for less than 600 all the time.
5/21/2010 1:02:34 PM
i would like to join this bandwagonanyone want a 53" pioneer rear projection? lolI'd love to be able to actually see what i'm shooting at in MW2
5/21/2010 1:02:48 PM
Whats the consensus on Plasma versus LCD? I've got a 32" LCD that I keep in the bedroom. Purchasing my first house and I'm probably going to get a 46" for the den. What would be ideal? 1080p I'm guessing. What about the Hz? What should I not go below? And again...LCD or Plasma?
5/21/2010 1:27:21 PM
depends on the room it's in. If you have a ton of windows, get an LCD. You will have a ton of glare on a plasma from the windows and natural light. If you are in a room without many windows then a plasma will work. Definitely 1080p, but the rest is really personal preference and how much you want to spend. Read the HDTV thread in Tech Talk or ask questions in there if you want a more technical discussion to follow.
5/21/2010 1:32:18 PM
I bought a 42" Dynex 1080p from Best Buy for $400 (I think it was on sale, and it was also open box).
5/21/2010 1:34:38 PM
5/21/2010 1:35:26 PM
I want the damn LED tv. Saw it in Best Buy a while back.
5/21/2010 1:41:42 PM
you can get a brand new Panasonic plasma for that price same specs.
5/21/2010 1:49:08 PM
played Wii and watched National Treasure on it last night. god. so pretty.
5/21/2010 2:40:44 PM
anything below 40" and your eyes cannot physically register the difference in resolution between 720 and 1080. it will appear the exact same unless youre an annoying gadget geek.
5/21/2010 2:49:06 PM
lol, so a 39" lcd @ 720 would look just as good as a 40" lcd @ 1080?I think what you meant is this...
5/21/2010 4:47:32 PM
didn't xkcd do a cartoon about this topic? seems relevant
5/21/2010 7:38:02 PM
For those of you bragging about the "great deals" you got on Dynex TVs, go shoot yourselves in the faces. Dynex is one of Best Buy's four house brands (RocketFish, Insignia, Dynex, Init). All of Best Buy's house branded products are shit with unbelievably overstated specs. The reason Best Buy maintains so many house brands (they "compete" with each other in various product categories) is to give shoppers the illusion of choice. Then the customer believes they shopped around to find the best deal. When the customer gets home and realizes they've been hoodwinked (assuming they've got the good sense to realize it), they'll say "I'm never buying a (house brand #1) TV again." So next time they go and buy a (house brand #2) TV, not realizing it is the same shit in a different wrapper.
5/21/2010 11:12:21 PM
1440p? wtf is that, 1200p will be the next step (16x10)
5/21/2010 11:34:12 PM
anyone who "does their research" and ends up with a house brand hasn't done very good research and deserves what they get
5/21/2010 11:48:22 PM
^^no it won't
5/21/2010 11:53:34 PM
yup, it will1200p panels have been around for years and movies have been using 16x10 since the early 70's.
5/22/2010 12:02:22 AM
lol @ dynex. wouldn't even pay $20 for one.^and 1440p is already out; just not popular... and better than 1200p... never even heard of that.
5/22/2010 12:16:03 AM
fuck craigslistthat shit is probably going to break tomorrow
5/22/2010 12:18:04 AM
I dont know about LCDs, but with plasma, Panasonic is the way to go.
5/22/2010 8:52:54 AM
^Vizio is not a Wal-mart product. They are just one of the few retailers that carries it.
