Gettysburg: THE OUTLET



May 21, 1864

Dearest Emily,

Thinks have been hard here at the outlet.

The Rebs have taken the Orange Julius, but we have fought back and managed to at least make off with a half dozen lemons and 3 boxes of straws. They sure didn't expect that. We all lamented that the juicer broke tho, and we had to shoot it, as the Confederates were close on our heels.

We've made camp at the Barnes & Noble, but for fear of alerting others to our presence, we dare not start a fire. It's a glory of a shame, due to there being an extraordinary number of paper products near our vicinity. Alas, on the other hand, we now have a great library for our times on the latrines. And this dysentery sure has got us good. We suspect all was not well at the Sbarro's meat supplier.

General Grant says that if we can get out of Banana Republic for under two-hundred and fifty dollars, he'll take us all to Shoney's for iced cream.

We were wanting for tent canvas after the recent fires, but our Maker has smiled upon us! O how the whooping filled the air when we happened upon the Lane Bryant. No more sleeping beneath the stars for our brigade. Tonight, we bivouac in glorious lady-shaped tents as big as a magnolia tree.
