how about that

I understand they are British, but that does not mean they are not part of corporate America. They play a hug role in our economy. This oil spill shit is getting ridiculous and Tony Hayward is spewing nothing but lies to cover his own ass. In an interview today he said he wished "things would get better so he could get back to his old life" meanwhile thousands in the gulf are preparing to lose their jobs and commercial fisherman are getting sick from the oil disspersant they are spraying. BP owes tons of money to local charter captains they hired to run barges and several gulf coast towns which are legally obligated to environmental cleanup. FUCK THIS SHIT. /rant

at least give a portion of the blame to the massive global oil rig company who happened to lease that particular rig to BP, as opposed to some of the other oil companies that lease their oil rigsalso, stop driving your car or buying any food or items that were brought in by way of truck or plane]

I'm not blaming BP. Accidents happen, I understand this. I understand our nations need for oil. My problem is with the way Hayward is acting. Claiming that they have contained all the oil in the open ocean is a complete lie, claiming that the oil plumes suspended in the water column do not exist, claiming that all the gulf fisherman getting sick in the last week have food poisoning is just shit. Refusing to pay hired local captains and refusing to build containment berms around coastal marshes as promised and required by law also adds to the shit pile. What really pissed me off was when he said he just wished he could get back to HIS life. My problem is with the man.

rather than whine and get nothing done why don't you go down there and help clean up the oil spill. They'll feed you and provide you with a place to sleep and pay you on top of that.

After you kick him in the teeth, id like to liquidate all of his stock, valuables, 14 cars, houses, and company profit for the past 10 years and distribute it to the people living along the gulf coast, and the businesses who will go in the red or fold b/c all of the dead wildlife currently happening b/c of BP's incompetence!
6/4/2010 2:12:31 AM
in all fairness, the rig was operated by another companysorry to ruin you bp bashing party
6/4/2010 2:17:20 AM
Its pretty well-documented that BP took shortcuts in the process of tapping the well, insisting on using seawater instead of heavy drilling mud, against the recommendations of the drill rig engineers. That may have led directly to the explosion, the deaths of 11 drill rig workers, and the spill that to this day is still leaking thousands of barrels of oil.

Interesting article I found in reference to helping clean up the oil spill, from an African plant grown on farms in Pitt County here in NC...Pitt County crop might help soak up oil spill in GulfBy Jackie DrakeThe Daily ReflectorThursday, June 3, 2010A crop grown and processed in Pitt County could soon be helping to soak up oil from the spill in the Gulf of Mexico.Kenaf, a fibrous plant native to Africa and brought to North Carolina in the past decade, is already being used by Greenville-based company RF Wastewater to absorb and and break down sludge in local municipal wastewater treatment plants.Kenaf could similarly be applied to the oil smearing the shores of Louisiana and other Gulf states since the spill began when a BP oil rig exploded in late April.“Kenaf is mother nature’s most absorbent plant; it’s like a sponge on steroids,” said Eric Pierce, a Farmville native who is farming kenaf for RF Wastewater on his family farm between Fountain and Falkland. The company makes its product, called Activated Kenaf (patent pending) by taking the finely ground core of the kenaf plant and adding naturally occurring microbes that break down oil soaked up by the plant materials, RF Wastewater Principal Walt Brown explained.Kenaf is absorbent on its own and is a perfect host and delivery system for the microbes that consume the oil. Then the microbes expire, and the kenaf biodegrades in a matter of months for a natural and non-invasive oil spill remediation system, Brown said.“We have 10,000 pounds of Activated Kenaf down there in Louisiana ready to go, and we have up to two million pounds available here,” Brown said. The Activated Kenaf has not been deployed on the Gulf shores yet, Brown said, as the company is awaiting EPA approval. The company has cleaned up other marshes using similar methods.Kenaf is not a common crop but has been grown in North Carolina for just less than 10 years, brought in as an economical alternative to tobacco, Pitt County Agricultural Extension Agent Phillip Rowan said. Often mistaken while growing in fields as marijuana, kenaf is similar to hemp and also a member of the hibiscus family. It has flourished in the state’s warm and humid climate.Pierce has several large bales or modules of harvested kenaf that are being processed for RF Wastewater. He also has planted about 700 acres of the next crop and hopes to plant a total of 1,500 acres this year. Kenaf is planted in the spring and harvested after the first frost, usually in October, Pierce said. The plant has two main parts, the central core which is light and spongy like balsa wood, and the stringy outer bark called the “bast” that produces fibers.Kenaf is grown in other counties by various companies, and the core and bast have a multitude of uses including livestock bedding and reinforcement of automotive interior paneling.“Kenaf can be grown easily all over North Carolina using tobacco and cotton equipment we already have,” Pierce said. “It could have a real benefit to minimize the impact of the disaster down in the Gulf.”“We need solutions down there as quick as we can, but its use can have a tremendous impact on Pitt County as well,” Brown said.
