I searched and all the threads that actually had info in them were pretty old so wanted to make a new one.I just moved down to Savannah for four months of training for my job. I was wondering if there are any places to catch a show as well as other cool stuff that you would have to be a local to know about. I am staying right in the middle of downtown so I plan on walking or riding my bike anywhere I need to go. Think we are going to catch a Sand Gnats game tomorrow. Also another buddy thats down here for training got a condo out on Tybee Island so if you have any info on that as well let me know. Thanks guys, and if any of you live down here and want to grab a beer or something at some point let me know.

if this thread gets some traffic you might want to get it moved to The Lounge or Old School

Used to live there but not in like 15 years. It's the most haunted city in America. So there's plenty of ghost stuff if you're into that. Like I said though, I haven't lived there in like 15 years so the only other thing I can tell you is River St, which is pretty touristy.

I plan on staying here pretty much the rest of the time except for a couple shows I am catching back up in Raleigh.

i'm just a little bit over the river into south carolina, just outside of beaufort. i've lived in the SC lowcountry for a few years now, but always about an hour away which is too far to go party much at all, at least if alcohol is involved. i go there every now and then, but barely know the place well enough to offer suggestions. i'm basically just stuck out in the woods.i know where the snakes are in the area though [no homo].

make sure you get one of the locals to pronounce the word "ground" for you.

I was in Savannah last weekend. Had a good time, but I actually like Charleston better. Savannah has a better night life, but I just enjoy the history and site seeing in Charleston better. River Street is very "touristy" as mentioned above. We went to the Olde Pink House restaurant and it was pretty awesome food (expensive though). We hit up a few of the old homes and museums, but none were that exciting. You should read in the Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil just so you can understand why many locals either hate or love the book.

When I was in Savannah a few weekends ago, it coincided with SCAD graduation...needless to say, there were a ton of pretentious, snooty people at all of the bars.

I ride a bicycle with friends around downtown, go to Forsyth Park and play sports or lay out, drive down to Tybee Island for some beach time, or walk around downtown with some beer in a cup. Sounds like you've already discovered most of these activities so enjoy my city!

I was up in the attic of the Moon River Brewing Co last night. I caught a few orbs in about 4 or 5 pictures I took up there.
