that is crazy that another person helped a hawkunfortunately the hawk i helped was really really sick or really really injuredhe was getting swarmed by flies which the vet lady said was really bad and meant he was in troubleand he tried to fight us a little bit but never puffed up like the hawk in the other thread. he ran from us but then eventually gave up and just let us scoop him up with a shovel and put him in a box
6/20/2010 7:58:58 PM
They are going to do the humane thing and put his ass down
6/20/2010 8:01:09 PM

6/20/2010 8:02:11 PM
i know that is kinda what i thinkbut it WAS a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation place (not just a regular vet) so that is their specialty. and the woman was a bird specialist so maybe if it was just a broken wing or something they can help him/her[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 8:02 PM. Reason : .]
6/20/2010 8:02:19 PM
good job kadwack, at least you gave the bird a shot at survivalat the very least, if they put him down it'll be quickthe flies swarming part is really concerning. you did your best.i'd be fucking scared to catch a hawk, even with a shovel haha
6/20/2010 9:51:03 PM
thanks it was TERRIFYING. his talons (or hers) even though he wasn't full grown were still giant and scary and i don't like birds to begin with (i mean looking at them is fine but birds as pets freaks me out)my brother and dad helped.the woman on the phone was like - even if you have work gloves he can talon you through them so be careful. and i was like. SWEET.

6/20/2010 9:53:27 PM
i think what we have learned from the hawk threads this weekend... hawks are scary but if they're in trouble and you act cool, they will let you him them
6/20/2010 9:55:08 PM
6/20/2010 9:56:22 PM
help*whatever, underwear throwerlol
6/20/2010 9:58:42 PM
i think my hawk might have been a red shouldered hawk not a red tailed hawkbut i'm not really surebut i hope he/she lived. i mean yea, if he was really ill/injured they could at least euthanize him which would be better than getting eaten alive by flies
6/20/2010 10:01:13 PM
I don't know this guy but I bet he will know what to do
6/20/2010 10:05:59 PM
i agree with youbut luckily i'm pretty awesome and was able to handle the situation without his assistance.
6/20/2010 10:09:11 PM
i just got home from dinner w/ my dad and when i got out of the car i heard screaming, like a small animal in pain or something. it was right at my car door, and i've seen opossums around before so i thought i'd half run over a baby one or something. turns out the cat was chasing this poor tiny baby bunny. i scooped up the bunny and put him in a box. he's completely exhausted, to the point that i think it's very likely he'll die. i don't know what to do with him. i can't put him outside tonight b/c the cat will just go get him again b/c he's so tired & weak. we made a little fuzzy hut/burrow for him and put it in his box w/ some grass & water. based on descriptions on the interwebs i think he's only like 3 weeks old and is probably still nursing.
6/20/2010 10:40:55 PM
apparently if you have a heating pad you're supposed to put that under 1/2 of the box. so 1/2 is warm.tomorrow you should take him to a place like i took the bird. if he's alive they will help him and it doesn't cost!it will be sad if he dies but at least you're trying to help!!are you in raleigh???? if so i can give you the place i went. if not i googled "wildlife rescue north carolina" and got a bunch of groups. they're all over the state. hoping the best for baby bunny. baby bunnies are so cute.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 10:46 PM. well she's probably just keeping it for ton since no where is open to take it right nowits not really "saving"and its "rehabilitation" that needs a licenseand the licenses are like $5 or something. they are cheap.[Edited on June 20, 2010 at 11:14 PM. Reason : .]
