this is begging for a parody thread
6/28/2010 12:21:34 PM
It can't be that important.
6/28/2010 12:22:00 PM
Isn't NC one of those states that if the pool is deeper than 5ft at a hotel they have to have a lifeguard on duty? Thus hotels don't build pools deeper than 5ft?Granted, I could be thinking of some other state like Virginia

Also make sure there are no black people there since you can get aids from swimming with them.
6/28/2010 2:21:54 PM
Excuse me, I meant to say "niggers." That's the word you'd use, right?
6/28/2010 2:23:06 PM
Please tell me you plan on jumping into one of these deep pools with a pair of concrete boots? If so, I will do everything I can to help you find one.

It's got to be an insurance thing.

There is no lifeguard requirement at all in north carolina, in fact having lifeguards usually increases your liability insurance. Pools are usually shallow for liability reasons.
6/28/2010 5:16:54 PM
Is it a displacement issue?
6/28/2010 5:25:48 PM
I'll second the insurance thinganother reason why you never see high dives anymore... it's a shame
6/28/2010 5:35:09 PM
Slides and water features have replaced diving boards, but at a certain height slides fall under the department of labor and require an operator at the top and bottom. it's a litigious industry, I have a personal $5M liability policy because I still do some training and only teach if the co-pay is underwritten^^ diving causes expensive accidents, under 5 ft is no diving by law[Edited on June 28, 2010 at 6:19 PM. LOL@BIGMANI learned to swim when I was little by having my dad grab my ankle and pull me to the bottom of a 10ft pool. I could either panic and die or grow gills. Needless to say I am completely comfortable in water.
