call the fire departmentthey'd probably know and give you less grief than rpdalso, it should be 100 tomorrow, so everything will be on fire due to earth's star

Illegal, but everybody does it.Guidelines:--Be very safe.--Have decent neighbors.--DO NOT CALL TO ASK ANYTHING OR TO GET PERMISSION. YOU'RE ONLY ATTRACTING ATTENTION.DO NOT LISTEN TO DJETERNAL OR MARKO.THEY ARE WRONG. ANYONE TELLING YOU TO CALL THE FD IS HOPING FOR THEM TO BUST YOU.[Edited on July 6, 2010 at 4:28 PM. Reason : ]

I am fortunate enough that my closest neighbor is a fireman, so we can pretty much burn whatever the fuck we want with a quick phone call to him. Then again, I live out in the sticks so it's probably different.I know you can get a burn permit for cheap though, if you are really worried about it. Like $10. But then you can be assured that the cops will break up your party, ESPECIALLY in Raleigh.

Seriously though, the best advice is to call the FD. They will let you know the deal.

I think you have to be at least 50 ft away from a dwelling and there cannot be a burn ban in effect.
