Fuckkkkkkkkkkk...Damn, download one fucking episode of Law and Order and NBC is one you like white on rice. It was a C&D, but I did it on my parents internet. I know NBC isn't going to do shit over an episode of L&O. Still a bit annoyed though. From what I can tell, NBC didn't file a subpoena, nor did the letter sent to Charter indicate that it would file for a subpoena as long as I deleted the file and stopped uploading/downloading it.

STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!

Goddammit, if only cable channels would broadcast Law & Order around the clock!!!When will they learn?

Once art is created, it belongs to everyone. NBC is the thief. They're trying to steal L&O from the people.
7/20/2010 8:16:32 PM
^ They've already destroyed the art by canceling it.

One of the worst ideas you can have is to post a thread after receiving a DMCA takedown notice. The last thing you need to do is to identify yourself.
7/20/2010 8:21:07 PM
they are going to send a swarthy fat man to facerape you for this you'll never be able to whistle again
7/20/2010 8:22:47 PM
can't you just say that someone used your wireless connection?
7/20/2010 8:24:17 PM
^^ And then use the news story about merbigs facerape as the basis for an episode of SVUIt's a vicious cycle.]
7/20/2010 8:24:37 PM
"someone" isn't responsible for it. the account holder with the ISP is responsible.
7/20/2010 8:25:17 PM
So if another person hacks into someone's wireless connection and downloads a shit ton of stuff the person who was unaware of this going on will have to pay for it?
7/20/2010 8:27:14 PM
fuck, now I have to get out of this thread too?!this is becoming a problem
7/20/2010 8:28:00 PM
yes, unless they can prove it wasn't them. that's the way it works w/ these people.
7/20/2010 8:28:06 PM
I thought that this shit was old. I thought people didn't give a shit about downloading illegally anymore.Or was I just a dummy and I was wrong.
7/20/2010 8:29:12 PM
7/20/2010 8:29:34 PM
that's how i know you're lying.
7/20/2010 8:30:37 PM
^^^ they care just as much about this nowadays as they did before. and they've gotten better at identifying infringers.^^ i know that, but you're talking about it at all. any good lawyer is gonna tell you to shut your pie hole on this one. self-incrimination in any form is a bad idea, and Google *does* index this place.[Edited on July 20, 2010 at 8:31 PM. 7/20/2010 8:31:30 PM
dang...now how am I going to watch True Blood
7/20/2010 8:32:09 PM
NBC Universal is going after people more nowadays because they have an alternative, Hulu. *shrug*
7/20/2010 8:33:19 PM
Yeah but L&O doesn't have full episodes online.
7/20/2010 8:34:58 PM
^^^^ Well, NBC isn't the ones who actually caught me. It was another company. What's funny, is the company asks that you send them an e-mail telling them you have complied. This wasn't mentioned in the notice, but rather at the site's FAQ, which I had to look up as it was not in the notice. There is no way in hell I am telling them anything, as they do not know who pirated the file, and such an e-mail would tell them who it is (without needing a subpoena), as well as admitting guilt. Since it's the first notice I have ever gotten, and the file hasn't even been uploaded/downloaded for over 2 weeks, I doubt NBC is going to come after me. They're not as bad as the RIAA or MPAA. I've never heard of NBC suing anyone for downloading their shows (movies, perhaps).^ Yeah, I think Law and Order is the one notable show that stands out that isn't on Hulu. Most of the other good shows (to me) are on Hulu, and as such, I wouldn't download them.[Edited on July 20, 2010 at 8:37 PM. Reason : ^]
7/20/2010 8:35:47 PM
Probably not, but you shouldn't be assuming anything. They have the legal right to file a lawsuit against you right now, if they so choose. Seems to me like you'd be better served by ending your thread now.
7/20/2010 8:37:23 PM
Well iTunes needs to let you transfer your library from one computer to another, especially if it's your 2nd computer or something. If there was an easy way to do it, that would help me out. I'm not trying to buy songs twice just cause I want them on my other computer.
7/20/2010 8:38:12 PM
^^ Again, how is this thread going to link me to the file I downloaded? I'm not even posting from home.[Edited on July 20, 2010 at 8:38 PM. Reason : .]
7/20/2010 8:38:20 PM
there are full episodes of L&O on netflix.only $9 a month and you stay out of jail.
7/20/2010 8:38:34 PM
^ Perhaps they should advertise it.
7/20/2010 8:39:22 PM
Trying to help you dude. But I'm not gonna beat my head against a wall all night. Posting on tdub isn't going to protect your anonymity.
7/20/2010 8:39:47 PM
yeah. they should advertise every title on netflix.
7/20/2010 8:40:00 PM
i thought they generally go after those that share instead of those that just dl it and don't share iti dunno, i have a job, i haven't had to steal shit for quite a while now
7/20/2010 8:40:08 PM
^^^ I know you are. But posting on TWW isn't going to hurt my anonymity either. ^^ It wouldn't hurt for NBC, ABC, CBS, ect, to advertise that their shows are on Netflix/Hulu/ect.
7/20/2010 8:48:42 PM
why would they? so people watch something other than their channel?would you watch reruns on cable with commercials if you had netflix and could watch them commercial free whenever you want?
7/20/2010 8:49:50 PM
If you're watching something via Netflix, the original content owner isn't making any money from that. The only time they see any $ from it is when Netflix buys the physical DVD.
7/20/2010 8:52:40 PM
^^ I would watch them on Cable because I wouldn't like to wait a week for them to be on Netflix. I'm not saying it has to be a big advertisement, but maybe a little thing in the bottom of the screen that says "also available on Netflix."Not to mention that these companies often sell their shows in syndication to different networks. At that point, why would they care if they watch the rerun or not?About the only time I see NBC showing re-runs of L&O is during the summer when nobody watches TV, and even then, they may not get through the whole previous season or they may choose to show some other crappy show instead of re-runs.^ Are you sure abou that? I'm pretty sure Netflix is paying some type of licensing fee for being allowed to show their show. It may be an inclusive type of fee, where they are able to show a bunch of shows in one license, or each show may be licensed individually.
7/20/2010 8:54:45 PM
They may have to pay some sort of license fee for Instant View streaming stuff, but the rest of their physical DVDs are straight up purchase-only stuff.
7/20/2010 8:55:42 PM
law & order really isn't worth all this.
7/20/2010 8:56:31 PM
7/20/2010 8:56:37 PM
^^^ Oh yeah. I'm sure that's the case for their DVDs. But I thought we were strictly talking about online viewing.[Edited on July 20, 2010 at 8:57 PM. Reason : ^^ You just don't understand man...]
7/20/2010 8:56:46 PM
