The movie where the guy turns his back on a successful career in order to focus on his love of a young prostitute.I never realized it, but it sounds similar to Taxi Driver when you think about it like that.
8/4/2010 7:27:39 PM
was deniro's successful career a cabbie?
8/4/2010 7:28:54 PM
Yeah, he did alright.
8/4/2010 7:32:10 PM

I wonder how many young girls went into prostitution after seeing this in the hopes that they would find a Richard Gere of their own one day.
8/5/2010 1:51:50 PM

If you want a hooker that looks like Julia Roberts you usually have to go through a website, and even then they usually look nothing like their picture.

Knowledge is a journey, not a destination.

I wasn't allowed to watch this movie growing up.It was shown at my friend's birthday party (we were 8 years-old), and all the other parents approved it except for mine. I was supposed to leave the room for that portion of the party, but I think I ended up watching most of it anyway. If it was a documentary about human rights abuses against women with explicit footage, my parents probably woulda been all for it (and the other parents woulda nixed it)...but a fairy tale about a prostitute who, on her very worst day, must endure the advances of George Costanza and the disdain of a couple uppity shop girls...my moms won't havin it...
8/5/2010 2:27:41 PM
I wouldn't hit it per se, but I would definitely like to experience my entire cock and balls rolling around in her mouth. I think she is one of the select few that could accomplish this feat.
8/5/2010 2:40:13 PM
^^ yeah, your mom sounds pretty unreasonable not to allow an 8 year-old to watch a movie glorifying prostitution.
8/5/2010 3:00:34 PM
what's the difference between her seeing it at age 8 and 18. Would it have a different impact? What impacts would they be? Would she be wiser if she had the knowledge in her system for 10 years longer?
8/5/2010 3:02:14 PM
^^?I'm confused. Are you arguing with me?The movie is totally inappropriate for young people on so many different levels, and my mother was right to not approve. I suspect some of the other parents would have taken a similar stance, but they probably succumbed to peer pressure: "All the other parents are okay with it..."
8/5/2010 3:17:20 PM
meh.i was gonna argue with that but i'm not a good advocate for it...i was like the only kid whos parents let me watch pretty much anything i wanted (within reason of course).and assuming my child will show the same poise and interest, i suspect ill do the same....but tht being said-i was allow to watch it but i didnt really like it.i like it now little more, but its not one of my favorites by any means. i think dirty dancing is just as inappropriate as this movie is for young people imo.[Edited on August 5, 2010 at 3:25 PM. Reason : this keyboard sucks ]
8/5/2010 3:24:52 PM
^idk about dirty dancingi didn't see it until i was in my 20s and found it too childish overall to be appropriate for adultsbut i don't really like feeding romantic crap to children either[Edited on August 5, 2010 at 3:34 PM. Reason : v of course ]

8/5/2010 4:22:25 PM

8/5/2010 4:24:33 PM
I have never seen this movie. I did watch Mystic Pizza with my mom, once.
8/5/2010 4:33:30 PM
I think all kids should learn that movies aren't real. But a fairy tale about prostitution is hard. Most kids don't have any real life experience with prostitution so it's like you let them watch it, and then you gotta explain how unrealistic it is and get into some deep shit, and meanwhile the kid's just jammin out to some kickass Roy Orbison tunes...I wasn't allowed to watch black sitcoms for the same reason. I grew up in a practically all-white area, and you can't let Martin Lawrence's interpretation of black people determine the entirety of your kid's experience with black America. I mean, your kid's running around doing impressions of Sheneneh, thinking he's funny, and it's just like .

All movies about prostitutes should be narrated by Ice T.
