yeah everyone knows the interweb is full of fuckhats, that's no surprise.but where do you go for intelligent and witty discussions, where you actually learn something? forums with a large, active community that you recognize regular contributors. it's kind of sad, but TWW is actually one of the better sites i've been a part of .... at least compared to other popular news, chat, and entertainment forums. I do go to a few tech-related forums like Experts Exchange, but just as an occasional contributor, not like 16,000 posts over 8 years.

I've had a lot of good discussions and read a lot of useful guides at http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/Though mostly that's in relation to computers for me.

this is the most active site I've ever been on, which is what keeps me coming back. That, and my other favorite site got shut down by the DEA.I go to http://forums.mikeholt.com/ for low voltage electrical wiring help, and http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/index.php for Excel macro help.[Edited on August 6, 2010 at 8:07 PM. ^^^ hey, i met Mike Holt. I went to his two-day seminar on grounding and bonding. It was pretty good.but sounds like you people are saying the same thing i'm saying: you go to some tech forums to give and/or get advice on a topic that interests you, but you don't really have a community there to speak of.now i want to know where ncsuapex goes.

i browse a couple of motorcycle forums and read the digg comments, but this is the only message board i actively post on. i'm not really sure what the draw to this site is, i guess as far as internet forums go, this one is fairly sane. (chit-chat and soapbox notwithstanding ).

i used to be a regular contributor at http://www.daniweb.com ... it was actually a pretty fun community for a while, we had a strong component of giving dipshit noobs a really rough timei had built up a high reputation on the C Programming board , but then i rage quit a while back. because the site owner changed the UI to a disgusting shade of purple and intolerable fonts. i can't put up with that.

I think this site is so old that trolling is [old] ... and therefore less of it occurs... which makes this place more bearable than other sites. The moderators do a good job of keeping the site moderate without being hitlers about it.
