it wouldn't let me deactivate my account (which i'm not entirely convinced is a tech problem) and i'm not sure that would have worked anyway because i've tried it once already. but i changed my password to something completely random i'll never know and copy+pasted it. combine that with the fact that i no longer have access to the email address linked to the account and poof... no more facebook.that shit was getting way too 1984ish for my liking

You can still access your Facebook by requesting a new password change by submitting an e-mail address that you do have access to. Freedom is Slavery.
8/26/2010 7:06:22 AM
So you're telling us you don't have any willpower?
8/26/2010 7:07:35 AM
Why is it necessary for us to hear about this?
8/26/2010 7:10:20 AM
because i know how proud you will all be to know i did this
8/26/2010 7:11:27 AM
people can still view it and post on your wall and tag pictures and shit, though...
8/26/2010 7:16:23 AM
yeah but i don't care though
8/26/2010 7:19:59 AM
better destroying woulda been giving the password to a spammer
8/26/2010 7:42:18 AM
without deactivating/deleting my acct i don't think i'd want to give up access since they change the privacy every 5 seconds. i wouldn't want to give up the option of having a bunch of my shit given out (if there is even any left to give out at this point) and no way of deleting my account
8/26/2010 8:44:30 AM
1984? More like 2005
8/26/2010 8:54:27 AM
George Orwell? More like George McFly
8/26/2010 8:58:43 AM
Haha, congratulations... you took just about the worst approach you possibly can to "shutting down" your Facebook account. Now it's just out there floating.Just take a look at your privacy settings every once in a while and make sure they haven't added a new one. It's not too hard. I don't allow any information/status/comments/pictures to be seen by anyone but friends. Not too hard.
8/26/2010 9:02:07 AM
^^^^I don't have an account because they want to keep changing their privacy policy.I mean, do you have any privacy at all if they change it to fit their whims every couple days? Or do you really need a privacy policy longer than the US Constitution? If you can't sum it up within a few pages that you're not going to sell off my information to the highest bidder, and delete it when I ask you to I'm not about to give it to you.[Edited on August 26, 2010 at 9:06 AM. would you like for me to suspend you so you don't waste time on TWW too?
8/26/2010 9:10:02 AM
the only reason people deactivate their facebooks is a desperate plea for attention, for which no one will even give a second thought.
8/26/2010 9:15:08 AM
GIVE THIS GUY THE WORLD'S LARGEST COOKIE.
8/26/2010 9:25:36 AM
sometimes i really hate facebook. I almost wish it didnt existwith the exception of connecting with old lost friends its really a complete waste of time
8/26/2010 10:09:03 AM
Well let's see... I won't be logging in so they won't be getting any new information from me. And unless someone wants to hack my account (from which there would be nothing gained) it's just going to sit there. I had already deleted all my information on there for the most part. The only thing I even used it for was to stalk people.

Facebook is ruining this generation for businessGive me the 80's way of actually meeting in person and three martini lunches any day
8/26/2010 10:17:02 AM
I don't mind facebook for hosting all my pictures. Except for the fact that I never take pictures. It pretty much just holds all my photo albums from my European backpacking trip. For that, I am grateful to facebook.Oh...and facebook has to be hurting some small time ad agencies or local newspapers that look to bars and restaurants to fill up a lot of ad space.

the OP's inability to cope with change and progress is the saddest thing ITT
8/26/2010 10:52:56 AM
You just made it so that when they change their privacy policy again you have no way to update your account accordingly. Congratulations. Out of sight, out of mind.

8/26/2010 2:15:39 PM
I believe facebook is more like A Clockwork Orange. FULL OF RAPISTS.
