It is true.People don't like people to be more successful than him/herself. Therefore, people will suggest constructive comments that lead to nowhere all the time.

Isn't this super obvious?I don't believe things people say until i see it come into fruition, except for those few individuals with a good track record who don't tell you about things until its literally on the verge of happening, ie someone with a 3.6 gpa saying "I'll graduate in the fall assuming i don't fail any classes"that being said its now my goal to tell people about things i may or may not accomplish even harder nowalso people who don't accomplish anything have less to talk about because they haven't seen the end of anything, while the others are off throwing parties on their yachts I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message./]

I can believe this. I told everyone about all my interviews... When I ended up doing the non-matched applicant thing for UAB I only put up that I got an interview.. I didn't advertise it near as much.. then I got in BOOM

i think those are just coincidences. Its not really whether/how often you mention something its whether or not your personality is the type to talk things upI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

I tell people things as a type of accountability. Before I decided to hitchhike around, I blabbed to everyone (you all included). That forced me to get out there and do it, otherwise I'd lose credibility and integrity. Same with living in the forest this summer.Of course, sometimes it backfires when you lose motivation or you don't have control over things, like my coffee conversations blog - I started it and told everyone about it, but then the meetings started slowing down and I lost motivation to go out and try to get more conversations. Also seemed to happen with peace corps
