Presidente is not that great
9/11/2010 2:51:58 AM
its arguably better than pilsner urquelland if you think they are not that great, consider that they have an aromatic head like a good bag of pot... i mean IMHO they are pretty good. also they are how pilsners are supposed to taste. tell me a better tasting pilsner.

Prima Pils from Victory BrewingCzechvar (in the US - Budvar in the CZ)umm...Warsteiner makes a decent pilsso does Brooklyn Brewery^ if you like the smell/taste of hops I recommend you switch to a heady IPA like Dogfish Head 60 Minute or Hoppyum from Foothills if you wanna do the local beer[Edited on September 11, 2010 at 2:58 AM. I've just got a problem with Presidente because I overpaid for deuces of it at bodegas in NYC that didn't store their beer properlyit didn't take long for me to just switch to Ballantine Ale
9/11/2010 2:59:32 AM
well sure i drank some hoppy-yum at sadlacks tonightbut its not a 'true pilsner'... when i think of pilsner i think of pilsner urquelland a fresh bubbly taste plus a potty head, not excessive hoppsmaybe its just skunky beer taste? delicious, skunky beer
9/11/2010 3:01:32 AM
Hoppyum isn't a pilsner at allits an India Pale Alepils is a form of lager, not an ale at all
9/11/2010 3:02:39 AM
^^^ohh... yeah.. overpaying for beer will make you bitter.may have to try ballantyne.. how much for a siz pack? this presidente was 8 at the HT, which is probably more than what its worth, but probably on par for prices in raleigh[Edited on September 11, 2010 at 3:05 AM. Reason : i want to talk about pilsner. i love hoppy IPA but dammit, pilsner, dammit]

more pils for you to tryStaropramen (Czech)Radeberger (German)^I'd get Ballantine for like $1.25 to $2 per deuce at bodegas around Brooklynthe point here being that Presidente (like Ballantine) is available in a 40 oz bottlebecause of this it loses a little cred in my mind [Edited on September 11, 2010 at 3:07 AM. yeeeahh... i hear ya, but better than bud or coors light (yet to see regular coors in a 40, but if i did i'd be on it)anyway, have you had lone rider peacemaker? that shit smells just like pot... (not trying to dwell on the pot thing, but damn, makes a good beer) I've had it fresh at the brewery, amazing stuff. They made me get off the railing outside

I really do enjoy a good pils thoughbut I don't think of it as beer so much as a reasonable alternative to soda/waterI traveled around central and eastern Europe a bit and would often have a small glass of pils with my breakfast^ not familiar with that beer - where is it from, etc?[Edited on September 11, 2010 at 3:13 AM. the best beer warm the next day i've ever had was a pils (pilsner urquel)... tastes just like it does cold. plus its only like 4%... is that pretty standard for pilsners? perty mild, definitely like drinking soda[Edited on September 11, 2010 at 3:17 AM. Reason : ^ Lone Rider brewing co. near RDU]
9/11/2010 3:15:24 AM
yeah like 4-6% is generally the range for a pils
9/11/2010 11:37:12 AM
Steamwhistle is the best pilsner I have ever had.
