I remember growing up my family watching the local and national news on tv most mornings and evenings. Like most other families at the time it seems. I can't even remember the last time I sat through a full half hour of a local news broadcast or watched Peter Jennings or something. I know cable news has gained a lot of momentum in the last decade, but I can't stand to watch their typical personalities.Am I alone here, or has this generation pretty much abandoned these news sources?

I definitely still watch the TV news. But usually only local.

My wife and I watch local news while we are eating breakfast in the morning. It normally just works out to the 10 minutes or so with the weather.

I think the big news stations are no longer news but heighten forms of drama and panic. I rarely watch local.I do peruse cnn.com and my local news website. I like to read the news I want, not watch the tv screens tell me what I should think and FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU cnn.coms video news without text versions.
9/12/2010 8:38:16 PM
I get all my news from TWW. National news has nothing on the TWW gopher!

There was a fucking question on some governmet test at state that still drives me crazy to this day. (this was only a few years ago)Where do most americans go to get their political information?A. The newspaperB. The internetC. ABC newsD. The radioThe asnwer was C. bull fucking shit.

now that you mention it, i can't remember the last time i watched the news. i normally get my news from npr during the morning and afternoon commutes. I can't tolerate the "news shows" (aka shouting matches over conjectures and speculation) on the cable channels.
9/12/2010 8:41:24 PM
I watch local news pretty much every nightI do HATE CNN now because EVERY story is "breaking news!"[Edited on September 12, 2010 at 8:43 PM. Reason : d]
9/12/2010 8:43:17 PM
everything on cnn is somehow mixed in with the use of twitter
9/12/2010 8:44:24 PM
fyi, Peter Jennings passed away.but i watch NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams every weeknight. Sometimes i'll watch the local news beforehand but very rarely.
9/12/2010 8:45:01 PM
Only old people still watch the news. Every commercial on there deals with some sort of prescription.
9/12/2010 8:45:03 PM
I mean.. I still beat to Deborah Morgan.. But I'm not watching for the content.
9/12/2010 8:45:35 PM
I guess I read most of my news. However, I do usually tune in to a news broadcast during dinner, or after work when I'm trying to unwind*Then, 3/7 nights, I'll go to sleep with CNN on the TV, and the sleep timer set on the TV.*It's somewhat counterproductive to unwinding listening to news about murders, rapes, etc... in DC

When I was working, I watched the news every morning. Mostly for the weather and traffic, but now that I stay at home with the kid. . .I get all my news from the internet.

I watch local news sometimes in the evenings. Mostly because I don't have cable and it's either that or the UNC children's channel.
9/12/2010 9:21:18 PM
^Some weird ass shit comes on that channel....
9/12/2010 9:23:17 PM
You watch UNC-KD?
9/12/2010 9:23:49 PM
i watch local and national news every night that im home. most of it has become a waste of time, but theres not much else to watch on broadcast tv at that time
i only watch fox news. it's fair AND balanced!
9/12/2010 9:41:28 PM
my parents fucking tape the news if they're not home from 6-7they have a dvr, but they don't know how to work it
9/12/2010 9:43:21 PM
i watch wral for a bit when i get home from work. every once in a while i'll watch the "big news" at 630. occasionally i'll watch the 11pm news. i used to watch it a lot more but i have better things to do or watch now. my dad watches it every AM & PM, plus fox news when he has nothing else to watch. that's way too much for me.

I "watch" the TWC news 14 channel in the morning. I turn it on while I get ready for work, then I listen to NPR on my commute. Other than that, I internet for more information on things that I heard on the local news, NPR, or at work that interest me.
9/12/2010 9:57:34 PM
I watch WRAL
9/12/2010 10:52:22 PM
Nah, i don't watch it. I get my over-sensationalized media contrived bullshit through the internet.
9/12/2010 10:55:42 PM
by the time the news comes on, or the papers come out, it's dated to me.the only people who still do are people who dont constantly get information feeds.like my grandparents or parents.i however, grew up watching the 630 news every day with the family.i'm not sure which is better.
