189 bucks for that shit? I'm sure Ikea would have these for sale for 18.9 in a month. You know the saying, there's a sucker born every minute.

When I had my Sega Genesis and Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition, I swore up and down that the character's after-the-fight animations would behave according to whatever I said. If I wanted Guile to smugly comb his hair, then he would. If I wanted Blanca to beat the ground like an ape, then he would. Then again each character really only had two or three possible animations, so odds were pretty good.

so scientists built something to perform a function, but aren't sure how they got it to perform that function

neat

It's more likely that it works by selective memory. you have stronger memories of when you successfully "controlled" the lamp PS ]

add this to the listhttp://www.eye.fi/
11/1/2010 4:59:41 PM
eye-fi's are actually worthless, just a gimmic that really is going to make you more frustrated than it solves any problems. Slow data rate, low range, and just a really expensive and slow memory card. If you just transferring small jpegs from like 40 ft away, it's ok.* Only works with associated access points which have no additional 'login' layer (ie. only home / office access points, not public access points) and this can only be carried out with the Eye-Fi Manager software running on a computer* Requires a good WiFi signal to work properly, has less range than typical WiFi devices* Uploads each and every image taken, no ability to select which images are uploaded* Uploads full size images to web galleries (it would have made more sense for the Eye-Fi Manager to provide the option to resize incoming)* For single images, demos and entertaining transmission times are acceptable, however if you came home with a card full of images (2 GB) it would take three hours to download all images (if the camera battery could last that long)* Requires that the camera does not power off otherwise obviously transmission is interrupted* Unknown additional impact on camera battery life* Performance is made to look pretty poor in comparison to most cheap USB 2.0 card readers which can manage ~10 MB/sec (some fifty times faster than the Eye-Fi card)

I used an eyefi at a photoshoot, it wasn't terrible. It is indeed very, very slow and works in like a 15 foot radius. But for our setup we had a computer in back (behind the backdrop) doing editing/correcting/printing while the photog was out front. This was a "drop-in" social. So we were shooting for 4 hours or something and people could pick up prints before they left. Sending the 15MB pictures from a DSLR was definitely slow, but with about a 30 minute head start you can keep the editor pretty busy. Now for a personal camera? You'll want to be somewhere where it can direct upload, and you'll want like 5MP JPEGS so it can keep up. Perfect for the teen crowd at prom or something. Not really ready for high-res work.
