of this message"For some reason that bugs the shit out of me at work. For some important e-mails, I suppose its understandable, but I guess some of these people must have it set to request that notice on every outgoing e-mail. Why the fuck does *** ***** need to know that I read her e-mail that states "Thank you so much! Have a great evening!"AND WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH AIRLINE FOOD/rant

Yeah, you can set it to automatically give you a receiptand that shit can be useful at times. for "Thanks for that delivery!"....yeah, not so muchbut like you said, for more important things, I don't want to hear excuses for missed deadlines like "oh, I never saw/got that email". It also gives the reader some sense of responsibility (in my opinion) where they know that you know they read your email.... so they can't neglect urgent issues as easily, and put them off]

Yeah, I can understand that it is useful, and there isn't really any reason for it to aggravate me, but for some reason when I see an e-mail from my "boss" i get really angry because I know that when I open it its gonna pop that box up and ask me if I want to send the receipt. I stopped sending them yesterday, I'm gonna see how many days it takes for him to call me on it.

well that would mean you did not open themwhat would he catch on to unless you are acting like you did open themplay it cool bruh

This bothers me, too. It's always the self-important cocknozzles who no one in the office likes that do this. They also typically put the stupid Urgent (!) on every damn email they send.

pretty sure you can configure a rule to strip the read receipts out of the message..

I rarely do this.Still, I will say that in my office (and line of work), you can get burned BAD if shit falls through the cracks. If shit DOES end up hitting the fan, it's nice to be able to pull out an email trail that lets your management know it's not your fault.

i deny the receipt acknowledgment 90% of the time. if its important, someone will have already called me about it. and while we're bitching about email, the receptionist/general office admin lady added a perpetual week long meeting to the main calender as a reminder to take your food out of the refrigerator. she bitched until everyone agreed to "attend" (she is supposed to clean out the fridge every friday but generally never does). but now if anybody tries to schedule a meeting on that calender it looks like everyone is in a meeting all day, every day.
