1/12/2011 7:31:35 PM
I mean.. Where else can you get your homework done for you and free trips to Miami?
1/12/2011 7:31:55 PM
yeah that's what i thought
1/12/2011 7:32:05 PM
Over 50% of TWW would've gone there if they'd gotten inLess than 5% would ever actually admit that
1/12/2011 7:33:48 PM
1/12/2011 7:33:52 PM
^^ i doubt your statistic only because of the number of engineers on twwthey weren't gonna go to unc to become engineers, yo.
1/12/2011 7:38:39 PM
only if you're instate.
1/12/2011 7:44:33 PM
Us and GT have by far the lowest graduation rate in the top 20. I figure that probably hurt us.
1/12/2011 7:58:36 PM
engineer right here, never would have applied to UNC.
1/12/2011 8:06:28 PM
I'm like 90% sure I could have gotten into UNC but I didn't even apply. Was 2/2 on college applications.

This was mentioned in the UNC investigation thread in ST, so [old] but their criteria is stupid.^ I know him. He was freaking out about all the hate it garnered, mostly because he didn't think his opinion was going to be posted in the newspaper. The whole event made me lol[Edited on January 12, 2011 at 8:46 PM. Reason : ]

I got into UNC.Liked NCSU better for multiple reasons at the time.Probably would have enjoyed either path admittedly.I'm poor though, so not sure I would fair well in CH even with my scholarships.

If I was good at like chemistry or like english or something other than math and fixing shit i wouldn't have tried to become an engineer. I didn't apply to UNC, but they had pretty much an open door policy for my high school. Needed a break from CH, but i think i would've had more fun in college there so i probably should've gone. I mean its not like i'm eager to work some fucking engineering job i don't give two shits about. I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message./]

Engineering can be a pretty fun career (just based on my ~4 years now). I have flexible hours where I'm at, some pretty cool projects in interesting locations, and it pays well enough to finance your hobbies on the side (music, travel, whatever).Obviously I'd prefer to be a writer or musician full-time but I took the guaranteed money /shrug
1/13/2011 9:22:49 AM
Yeah i'd be super down with being an EE 20 years ago, now? not so much.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

So now that the report is out... how long until UNC-CH raises tuition just to have the rest of the UNC system schools follow suit?[Edited on January 13, 2011 at 9:41 AM. Reason : -]

Are you a student? why do you care? or are you just here to complain about things that didn't exist 200 years agoI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
1/13/2011 9:44:05 AM
i applied to 1 school and 1 school only: NCSU. i applied for and received an alumni scholarship for teh CoE as well.i could have just as easily gotten into UNC. if i wanted to get a degree in gay.
1/13/2011 1:11:13 PM
Well hell, if this is just ranking Best Value, pretty much every major NC university should be in the top 10 considering how cheap we are.
1/13/2011 1:44:04 PM
hahahah^^
1/13/2011 1:52:11 PM
I wanted to prove a point by applying to UNC, getting accepted, and then turning them down.Instead I got waitlisted.
1/13/2011 1:52:52 PM
1/13/2011 1:53:26 PM
hahah ITT AstralAdvent is bitter about his shitty life and thinks it has to do with his choice of majors.[Edited on January 13, 2011 at 1:55 PM. Reason : .]
1/13/2011 1:55:08 PM
I would have probably gone to UNC if I knew I wouldn't stay in engineering
1/13/2011 1:56:34 PM
ncsu grads have a higher average income than unc grads
1/13/2011 1:56:49 PM
source?is that just for 4 year graduates, or does that take into account graduates from the professional schools as well? If so, I'd be shocked.
1/13/2011 1:58:14 PM
Income-based rankings are asanineMost of the richest people I know are some of the dumbest, and vice versa
1/13/2011 1:59:29 PM
1/13/2011 2:00:51 PM
^^income and wealth have little to do with each other.
1/13/2011 2:03:07 PM
1/13/2011 2:04:16 PM
^^ You really want to get into that argument? That's like saying someone's diet has little to do with their figure.
1/13/2011 2:05:48 PM
I would say a large number of NCSU students came here for engineering, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Agriculture Institute, College of Natural Resources etc. etc. - None of those people would ever want to apply to UNC. So fuck your lame statistic........
1/13/2011 2:21:04 PM
What about CSC? Don't they still have Fred Brooks over there?
1/13/2011 2:27:39 PM
Many of my friends and I from high school got into UNC and decided to go to NCSU for the Engineering program. If I was interested in Business, Law, Medicine or some of the graduate programs at UNC, then that would have been my first choice. My grades and scores were good, and both of my siblings went to UNC, so I had the legacy benefit as well. I didn't apply. I would have been accepted. Why though? I make a good living with a bachelors from NCSU, and spend my days coding and enhancing software implementation cycles. I can work from Starbucks, it's epic.
