It was always nice going to one in California or Pennsylvania. Apparently they have them in Illinois too.

Because
2/16/2011 9:15:19 PM
Perhaps it's one of the many stupid alcohol-related laws in this state
2/16/2011 9:16:20 PM
Or it's pretty irrelevant to most people.
2/16/2011 9:17:56 PM
ITT: you are looking for a BYOB strip club...of which there are numerous...[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 9:20 PM. Reason : well in NC anyways]
2/16/2011 9:20:22 PM
this sounds trashy as fuck
2/16/2011 9:20:31 PM
^^^ Or most people down here don't even realize it could be an option. I know in PA a lot of restaurants that don't have liquor licenses just let you bring your own bottle of wine in.^ Not really. Allows you to bring in a nice bottle of wine that hasn't been upmarked over 200% and the restaurant doesn't have to bother with a liquor license.[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 9:22 PM. Reason : s]

I was happily surprised to find that in Maryland, almost all diners, restaurants, burger joints, delis, etc.... also serve beer... and good beer at that. It's nice to sit down on a weekend for a nice sandwich, and a craft beer.
2/16/2011 9:22:06 PM
just hide them in your purse or jacketI sneaked beer into a bar oncethen I proceeded to spill that beer (glass bottle) and trip up like two girlsit was fucking funny
2/16/2011 9:28:49 PM
Who the fuck is dumb enough to drink wine that's been marked up 200%?
2/16/2011 9:32:22 PM
Anyone who has ever eaten at a halfway decent restaurant?[Edited on February 16, 2011 at 9:34 PM. Reason : and ordered a glass of wine]
2/16/2011 9:34:39 PM
^^^ ahahahahahahahaha
2/16/2011 9:36:00 PM
but how are you going to impress a girl if there is no chance that she sees how expensive the glass of wine you ordered for her was? whats the point of nice wine if your date or guests cant see how much money you just spent?
2/16/2011 9:38:42 PM
2/16/2011 9:39:43 PM
some private clubs let you take your own booze in and they will keep it for you, for only you
2/16/2011 9:45:23 PM
2/16/2011 9:52:08 PM
You be the guy carrying a 6pack of PBR with you to Chili's
2/16/2011 9:57:16 PM
If I ever ate at chilis and they would let me. Sure.
2/16/2011 9:59:43 PM
New Jersey also. I saw it as a bad thing, that a liquor license is so prohibitively expensive. They also charge a $5 "uncorking fee," but I guess it's still cheaper than paying restaurant $wine
2/16/2011 10:00:44 PM
People bring their own wine to plenty of places all the time, and they are charged a corking fee. Saw it done at Angus barn just last week
2/16/2011 10:03:31 PM
2/16/2011 10:06:03 PM
Really? It's pretty common and almost every restaurant allows it.My family had a party of 10 for Christmas Eve dinner in Walnut Creek and we brought our own win (3 or 4 bottles) and paid a $7 uncorking fee for each. We were hardly the only one's doing it that night either.
2/16/2011 10:08:14 PM
$7 is a pretty reasonable corking fee. My friend was saying a lot of the ones in Chicago don't charge any corking fee. That's pretty cool.I do know of a few restaurants in Raleigh that will let you bring in a bottle of wine but then charge a $15-20 corking fee. I don't really count those as BYOB with a corking fee that high
2/16/2011 10:12:20 PM
The nicer restaurant on Hillsboro across the street from campus used to allow this. Uncorking fee of course, but they would even chill it for you before serving in some kind of blast chiller.
2/16/2011 10:13:29 PM
every apartment i lived in through college had blast chillers conveniently located in the common areas in little glass cases, always great to quickly cool a case of beer
2/16/2011 10:32:14 PM
2/16/2011 10:34:42 PM
most places around here serve beer
2/16/2011 10:36:21 PM
^definitely not most places, maybe most places that you frequent or most places around campus, but there are a lot of restaurants that don't.
2/16/2011 10:41:03 PM
bible belt
2/16/2011 10:54:13 PM
what places are you guys eating that do not serve beer?
2/16/2011 11:02:50 PM
McDonald's?
2/16/2011 11:04:24 PM
waffle house, grand china buffet
2/16/2011 11:04:36 PM
so shitty places
2/16/2011 11:04:51 PM
The Pakistani place near my apartment doesn't sell alcohol
2/16/2011 11:05:35 PM
oh i didn't know you were just talking about bringing wine to a restaurant. yeah i thought everyone did that and you were talking about something else, like liquor or something.we brought our own wine to my wedding rehearsal dinner (in san diego).
2/16/2011 11:06:23 PM
My favorite bar to go to during the summers in AB is semi byob. Basically it's on the pier so you can bring a cooler as long as you are sitting out on the pier...
2/16/2011 11:12:00 PM
2/16/2011 11:16:55 PM
2/16/2011 11:58:22 PM
this happens in pennsylvania and it owns a lot
2/17/2011 12:32:54 AM
bring your own boobs
2/17/2011 12:40:09 AM
I always thought BYOB was due to places not being able to obtain liquor licenses, thus the absence of them in NC would suggest that it's not that hard/expensive to get one here.Which is a good thing, especially for businesses. And not so much for trashy people that like the idea of carrying a six pack into restaurants.
2/17/2011 1:24:55 AM
2/17/2011 1:31:12 AM
we do have a movie theater that serves beer. where else can you find that
2/17/2011 7:37:54 AM
2/17/2011 8:08:18 AM
^^^ a couple movie theatres that serve beer. Raleighwood, Rialto, Raleigh Grande and Mission Valley and probably more
2/17/2011 8:17:41 AM
2/17/2011 8:23:11 AM
BYOB restaurants are common in counties that don't have liquor by the drink. The ABC law allows a restaurant to sell alcohol or BYOB, but not both. Since it is more profitable to sell alcohol, that's what restaurants do.
2/17/2011 8:23:24 AM
all the upscale restaurants in the area let you bring your own bottle of wine. Don't be trying this shit at O'charley's and don't be bringing your fucking Charles Shaw to Second Empire. You will look like a rabbit eared bitch if you try this.
2/17/2011 8:23:44 AM
2/17/2011 9:38:16 AM
Yeah, bringing in your own wine is pretty much acceptable at any of the nicer restaurants in Raleigh. They may not advertise that they allow it, but most, if not all of them are cool with it and will just charge you a corking fee.
