http://pol.moveon.org/nprpbs/?rc=fb.ads.ck.npr.PBS.P.MA.17Plz to vote here. NPR and PBS are so very important and they both deserve government funding. Don't let politicians kill Big Bird!

2/17/2011 11:16:45 AM
what? you don't want to opt-in for daily imperative "sign this petition or western civilization will end" emails from leftist/progressive organizations?
2/17/2011 11:23:47 AM
government funding accounts for what, 5% of their budget?
2/17/2011 11:32:12 AM
WNYC receives about 6% of their budget from the governmenthere is a story from On The Media about this issuehttp://www.onthemedia.org/episodes/2010/11/05/segments/158405
2/17/2011 11:33:29 AM
so instead of SAVE NPR, it should be PREVENT THEM FROM HAVING TO CUT THEIR BUDGETS IN A TIME WHEN EVERYONE ELSE HAS TO CUT BUDGETS
2/17/2011 11:35:35 AM
actually the story on On The Media proposes that we should embrace the cut so that people have to shut the fuck up with their griping about public media^ public media outlets have already tightened their belts significantlywith only 6% from federal funding the majority of the budget comes from listener/viewer donations and those have contracted during the recession
2/17/2011 11:39:19 AM
why would i save these, if i can get all my news from the internet.
2/17/2011 11:49:00 AM
1) Car Talk2) you can only listen to talk radio in GTA so many timesI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

I'll vote for their funding to stay, but I want some shows with some real reporting that's not monkeys. Bust the nuts of some politicians and you'd have all the funding you'd ever want.

I'M A SUSTAINER
2/17/2011 2:28:36 PM
Hi my name is Kathryn, and i recently became a sustainer because well, I knew that I was going to donate every year but NPR didn't know and wasn't able to budget accordingly so i want to encourage you to become a sustainerI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

I'M A LEECHER
2/17/2011 2:35:20 PM
I love NPR and hate government intervention. I will not be voting.......
2/17/2011 2:39:31 PM
Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood is the single most important broadcast segment on any given day. PBS gets my money.NPR doesn't need public funding. They've said so themselves.
2/17/2011 3:48:00 PM
I need Car Talk and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me
2/17/2011 4:05:12 PM
I've got Sirius + XM soI don't really care
2/17/2011 4:07:01 PM
i only like the story w/ dick gordon. i'd rather the gov't save my husband's state job than a radio station.re: big bird - read chapter 3 in "the tipping point" about sesame street vs blue's clues. good read.[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 4:32 PM. Reason : ]

Sooo...you want us to 'skew' the results of what is most likely a non-scientific poll in order to misrepresent the views of the populace? Can we say, waste of time?
2/17/2011 5:03:56 PM
The Story is a co-production of American Public Media and WUNCits not an NPR program^ its not really a poll so it can't be skewed - it is a petitionbut Tdubbers love poll skewing so I tossed that in there to get their attentioninfluencing popular opinion (or at least representations of it), scientific or not, is definitely not a waste of time - its how shit gets done[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 5:07 PM. why do they need government money? don't they sell advertisements like every other radio station?
2/17/2011 5:47:35 PM
hell no they shouldn't get a dime...Fox News ftw
2/17/2011 5:53:05 PM
PBS ain't gettin' another dime until Masterpiece Mystery comes back on. British mysteries are like crack to me.

Why do libraries need public money? Don’t they charge late fees?
2/17/2011 7:36:47 PM
They could charge a membership fee. If gyms do it, why can't libraries?
