3/21/2011 11:49:33 AM
I won't make fun of anyone that finishes a marathon, regardless of their time
3/21/2011 12:17:46 PM
you shouldnt run a marathon unless you can run
3/21/2011 12:18:24 PM
he started the race at 400lbs and finished the race at 380lbs.
3/21/2011 12:22:07 PM
Just finishing is the accomplishment. I'd love to do something like that, but I'm sure they would close up shop long before I'd ever cross the finish line.It would probably take me 8 hours, after I walked the entire thing and sat down for some lunch at Burger King about half way though, so good for him.

3/21/2011 1:27:42 PM
calling me a marathon elitist? lolz assuming on the internet and making an ass of yourself.im just saying completeing a marathon is an accomplishment, but not if you average 2.66 mph

he was still faster than 6 other people
3/21/2011 1:38:15 PM

3/21/2011 1:38:41 PM
nothing you do when you weigh 400 lbs is an accomplishment except for PUTTING DOWN THE FUCKING FORK[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 1:40 PM. Reason : at most he deserves an atta boy for doing something that might make him lose weight]
3/21/2011 1:39:38 PM
you do realize he was a sumo wrestler... Those guys do have quite a bit of muscle.
3/21/2011 1:45:26 PM

3/21/2011 2:05:17 PM
I'm impressed... I don't know if I could finish a marathon, so good for him
3/21/2011 2:07:40 PM
Anyone on this site who has two legs could finish a marathon in 9 hrs and 48 min. That is a slow walk. Good for him for getting out and being active, though.
3/21/2011 2:09:55 PM
I donno, there's some lazy motherfuckers and fat asses on this site...
3/21/2011 2:13:17 PM
3/21/2011 2:16:30 PM
its 26.2-mile
3/21/2011 2:17:44 PM
The dude that won the marathon was impressive. It was his first marathon EVER and he totally destroyed everyone. Even the announcers were doubting him halfway through the race saying things like "When, not IF this guy hits the wall, he'll likely end up outside the top 10, IF he even finishes the race at all....it's not possible to run this course at his pace" blah blah blah. He shut them up and proved them wrong. I almost shed a tear watching him finish the race.He beat the previous course record by like 2 minutes. And it was raining/flooding for basically the entire race. [Edited on March 21, 2011 at 2:20 PM. Reason : .]

Both the male and female winners were ethiopians http://hollywood.patch.com/articles/26-year-old-geneti-wins-la-marathon-weather-sends-runners-to-hospitals
3/21/2011 2:29:30 PM
they should have weighed him after, to see how much weight he lost.
3/21/2011 2:38:57 PM
There are announcers at a marathon?
3/21/2011 2:40:46 PM
3/21/2011 3:44:58 PM
heavy ppl "walk" marathons all the time now, this is nothing new.Sorry to be all hiptser
3/21/2011 3:46:25 PM
define heavy. I mean 400 pounds is a hell of a lot of weight. And even if he walked the entire time, carrying 400 pounds around for almost 10 hours is impressive. Now with that being said and the fact that he was a former sumo wrestler I would assume he was a lil more in shape than your average 400 pound person.B/C i don't think you could find an average 400 pound person who could walk for 10 hours straight....
3/21/2011 3:50:29 PM
stuff like that sure.I dont know about technically 400 +But definitely very obese people.
3/21/2011 3:59:41 PM
I wonder what his weight was after the marathon
3/21/2011 4:01:17 PM
hey KeBa)youre a faggotb)i knew he was a sumo, read the thread next timec)BUY A FUCKING AD
3/21/2011 4:03:54 PM
OUCH!It hurts when the troll gets trolled....i read the threadyou said he needs to put down the forkassuming that he was just fat b/c he ate too much. B/C even after someone said he was a former sumo that's when you said
3/21/2011 4:20:11 PM
Yes, there are announcers for marathons that are televised There's also usually an annoying dude at the finish line with a microphone who updates everyone on where the leaders are and what their projected times are, etc.
3/21/2011 10:12:23 PM
I was originally planning to run this yesterday, and it would have been absolutely miserable; we got over 3 inches of rain, with a disproportionate amount of it in the morning. I am so glad I decided to run a different one two weeks ago instead. With the weather conditions as they were, hypothermia becomes a very real concern, so I'm impressed with Big Guy for not giving up for ten hours anyway, but especially for sticking with it when you're going so slow that maintaining a high core temperature is an added challenge.
3/21/2011 10:24:41 PM
3/21/2011 10:40:51 PM
Props to him.
