A good gf/fiance/spouse should know when to avoid confrontation. After a bad loss if one of those times.
3/22/2011 8:30:13 AM
Often that's when they instigate confrontations.
3/22/2011 8:45:58 AM
I blame the victim.

A good gf/fiance/spouse should be just as heart broken by a bad loss of your shared favorite team. I'm looking at you, NC State-Maryland football game.

^^ i agree completely...for example, folks who get angry when other people don't like the same music they like are pretty fucking lame[Edited on March 22, 2011 at 9:40 AM. Reason : .]

If she doesn't give me at least 15 minutes to cool down, then I don't need a tank top to be a wife beater.

All joking aside...I honestly was like this in high school and maybe early college. But my girlfriend at the time was a smart one and knew to avoid me and that she shouldn't expect much out of me for the rest of the day.But I've grown up and/or become numb to NC State athletics. So although losses disappoint me, they don't affect anything else. And significant others should be alert for things that upset their partners...sports related or not. I know how to handle my gf when she comes home after a bad day at work. I expect her to learn how to respond when I'm in a bad mood as well.We are creatures of adaptations. If your boyfriend gets upset after a bad loss, leave him along and go outside and water the flowers or go to the kitchen and bake something.

Closed fists are a definite no-no, but everything short of that is fair game if she is clearly violating your right to mourn after a stomach-punch loss.

Football losses = the new "burning the pot roast"???
3/22/2011 1:31:39 PM
this is an excellent way to help your wife/gf develop an interest in football. if she knows she's getting a beatdown if the Bears lose, she will, as a matter of course, become a Bears fan.
3/22/2011 6:02:32 PM
I'm pretty sure domestic violence causes football upsets.
