This is a common trend at my company. Nobody wants to throw anything out. We have a huge warehouse of shit we will NEVER use! And I guess I'm to also blame. damn my desk is a mess. Anyone else have these first world problems?
5/17/2011 12:44:09 PM
No, I throw away everyone's shit.
5/17/2011 12:44:59 PM
Yes, terribly.
5/17/2011 12:47:29 PM
^^ please clean my desk up.
5/17/2011 12:48:49 PM
Gah I need someone to come to my apartment and tell me to throw shit away....moving made me realize I kept a lot of stuff I didn't need
5/17/2011 12:50:52 PM
I usually flush my shit. It starts to stank if you throw it away.
5/17/2011 12:51:22 PM
get all the shit you're hoarding and build a house out of it.http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_phillips_creative_houses_from_reclaimed_stuff.html (stolen from TED thread)
5/17/2011 12:56:31 PM
I tried to get bmel to come help me throw shit away a while back but she didn't
5/17/2011 12:57:22 PM
problem is, when I try to throw shit away they are like OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Just ask ThePeter and my Mom.
5/17/2011 1:09:05 PM
she doesn't throw it away, she just shoves it all on the floor and is like "thats better, lets do this"[Edited on May 17, 2011 at 1:10 PM. Reason : wait...WUT]
5/17/2011 1:10:16 PM
ive watched about 4 episodes of season 2 today and all of season 1 yesterday. it really encourages me to clean
5/17/2011 1:11:08 PM
I throw away my roommates stuff when she's not home, but she never notices. Theres some serious hoarding going on under that roof
5/17/2011 1:14:03 PM
^ don't you live with a twwer??
5/17/2011 1:14:38 PM
I'm really bad about saving things I will never use again--notes from college classes, old computer parts, random gadgets that I feel I could conceivably need one rainy day. It's why the room in my house that should be a man room, or an office (take your pick) is basically a junk drawer that happens to contain a desk, computer, and armchair. The fact that I have a crapton of books and collect die-cast cars doesn't help matters any.
5/17/2011 1:20:30 PM
craptonstupid word of the day
5/17/2011 1:29:08 PM
^^ haiku crap you just precisely described the 2nd bedroom in our apt., sans diecast cars. My saving grace is that I also have a garage that serves as a proper man cave[Edited on May 17, 2011 at 1:35 PM. Reason : haiku = holy]
5/17/2011 1:34:47 PM
I'm bad about keeping stuff I "might need" but moving helps me change my mind and trash/recycle a lot. I still have too much crap. I have a crap-ton of crap (I use that word too, though now I'm going to start saying haiku crap ). I'm not as bad about it at my job.
5/17/2011 1:50:42 PM
I have many things I "might need."I really need to stop.
5/17/2011 1:52:28 PM
Our workplace was horrible about thisThen we got in a new director who allowed us to throw crap away and it's been AWESOME It actually bit me in the ass today as I threw away a box of BROKEN motors that I had already cannibalized for all usable parts - lady from UNC called and asked me if her box of broken motors had been fixed yet. o_OMy predecessor failed to mention to me that this box of broken shit belonged to her, but why am I going to keep broken crap around??

the coupon thread in The Lounge is full of hoarders
5/17/2011 8:02:14 PM
My company has a whole warehouse out west that they send electronics and other shit to die. Like they literally throw outdated stuff on a shelf never to be seen again. And the most ridiculous thing is we send this stuff via UPS. The shipping is probably worth more than the items being shipped.
5/17/2011 9:31:23 PM
I'm usually pretty good about this at the office.at home, it's a different story though...
5/17/2011 9:32:33 PM
5/17/2011 9:37:21 PM
^^^ Hahaha. We pay a contractor to travel 3 miles to get stuff from the warehouse. He gets paid $150.Now you may say, "ok..." But he gets to choose when and how often he wants to go to his house. Not to mention the guy would steal from us.[Edited on May 17, 2011 at 9:38 PM. Reason : .]
5/17/2011 9:38:19 PM
I have a terrible habit of saving my used condoms. I just have trouble throwing them away when they're not broken
5/17/2011 9:38:43 PM
^^ Yeah shit like that is crazy. Blows my mind.My mom is a pretty bad hoarder so I've become like the exact opposite of a hoarder. I throw away shit when I should probably take a look at what it is first
5/17/2011 9:43:13 PM
5/18/2011 1:09:16 AM
5/18/2011 8:56:47 AM
but you can actually throw it away and they don't notice?? kinda crazy
5/18/2011 5:03:04 PM
I haven't quite figured out how they manage to find clothes to wear in the black hole that is their room. So I don't think they'll remember things that get thrown out. Out of sight out of mind I suppose.
5/18/2011 5:19:24 PM
I used to hang on to stuff...but then quit buying shit and starting gradually getting rid of stuff...bought a shredder and wore that bitch out too... still a work in progress but doing better.
5/18/2011 5:26:22 PM
i'm moving this summer and can't wait to use it as an opportunity to throw/give away tons of shit.
5/18/2011 5:30:32 PM
