I've spent more time researching eBay to price games to sell than what I've played. Wait... does Angry Birds Count?

just trying to get a feel for what other people in their late-20's and early-30's do with their spare time
5/23/2011 7:18:35 PM
Who the hell asks a question like in the past year?
5/23/2011 7:20:00 PM
well more than 2 hours
5/23/2011 7:22:00 PM
I would have no idea how to start calculating something like thisI will say that I play video games a lot less than I did when I lived in upstate NY, and it hurt to go outside in the winter.
5/23/2011 7:23:27 PM
Many more than I should have that's for sure
5/23/2011 7:24:23 PM
5/23/2011 7:25:39 PM
I spent something like 5 months without the internet and with only 3 channels. I played a fair amount of Sims, Hearts, and Solitaire to pass the time.
5/23/2011 7:26:27 PM
eh....some weeks/months I don't play
5/23/2011 7:28:38 PM
I'd like to meet somebody who's played video games at least once a day for a year straighti assume that person exists -- maybe even on here!
5/23/2011 7:32:02 PM
Seems like a weird question from someone who clearly doesn't like video games.
5/23/2011 7:44:59 PM
probably like 2 - 5 hours in the past year?! i don't know. not more than that.if i had a wii it'd prob be slightly more. or not. because i played my DS a lot when i first got it and haven't touched that in a hot minute. so...it might go the way of the DS. but i'd probably do slightly more than 5 hours.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 7:46 PM. like 15-20 hours a week now, but when I was out of work, like 60+hours a week.

5/23/2011 7:50:42 PM
i played boggle on an ipad onceis that a video game
5/23/2011 7:51:15 PM
I got my 360 in January with Modern Warfare 2. Between single player and XBox Live, maybe 30-40 hours total, then pretty much shelved it. I picked up Assassin's Creed 2 and put about 30 hours into that, but now I mainly use the 360 for Netflix. Haven't played a game in at least a couple months.
5/23/2011 7:53:11 PM
Not as many as I would have liked. Probably 5-10 hrs. I'm trying to increase that now. Just bought the Socom 4 PS move package.
5/23/2011 7:54:47 PM
I have a very strong bursts around game launches. I beat MW2, and played the hell out of it for about 2 months, beat Red Dead Redemption and then played a little online, beat Tiger Woods 2010 and played quite a bit online, beat Black Ops and played it for a while online, and played probably 2-3 seasons of MLB 2K10. Total probably 250-300 hrs in the past year. I am very streaky. Haven't picked up my controller in probably 3 weeks. A ton of this was due to living 5000+ miles from friends and family for 4 months last year while starting a new job in Boston.
5/23/2011 7:58:32 PM
Sheesh, I play way more since I graduated. I probably play 2-3 hours per day, minimum. Usually more on the weekends. So, 15-20 hours per week?
5/23/2011 9:04:38 PM
I play video games a good deal. Probably a lot more than I look at TWW at this point per week. Mostly on the weekends during the morning/early afternoon.I'm fine with that, though.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 9:11 PM. Reason : though since I bought LA Noire, I've only played for an hour ]

0 hours if you don't count my cell phone[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 10:48 PM. Reason : 6-7 years ago that number would be way, way higher. ]

Easily 100's, I used to have eq chars with gameplay totals measured in days
5/23/2011 10:53:26 PM
I still have a PS2 and never bothered buying a PS3, Wii, or XBox 360 because I don't play games anymore. I only use my PS2 as a dvd player now.
5/23/2011 10:59:31 PM

5/23/2011 11:02:34 PM
5/23/2011 11:05:31 PM
20 hours a week on minecraft, prolly another 20 on black ops, and 4 hours a week on wordfeud.44/week approx.I also never sleep, so...
5/23/2011 11:08:58 PM
5/23/2011 11:32:11 PM
my guess is whatever 1.5 weeks is in hours
5/23/2011 11:34:07 PM
really rough estimate of about 10-15 hours a week...so between 500-700 hours in the last year.Tough coming up with a number, because I used to play a lot more 6-8 months ago than I do now.
5/24/2011 6:34:54 AM
5/24/2011 7:53:25 AM
I probably sit around the 10-15 range too, but it really depends on who is online, what's arrived in my Gamefly Queue and/or what's released recently.I also only work 4 day weeks, so that frees up a bit more extra time
5/24/2011 7:56:58 AM
probably like 5 hours total on the Wii. Golf FTW.
5/24/2011 8:01:42 AM
5/24/2011 8:19:12 AM
i'd be curious to see what my average time was up to a month and a half ago compared to what it has been since then.i'd guess it was like 15-20 hours a week and now its about 3 hours per week. but i suspect hockey playoffs is dropping that. should settle in around 8ish
5/24/2011 8:19:26 AM
I imagine this thread was created b/c of me. Our wireless network's been fishy of late so I hardwire connected the PS3 last night for an online race, which necessitated using the TV in the main room instead of the one in my bedroom.I mainly play just GT5...some weeks maybe 5 hours, other weeks 20. Beats the hell out of me how much I've played this year so far.
5/24/2011 8:24:23 AM
depends... if you include wii boxing (i do for a workout) then probably 100 if not... 0
5/24/2011 8:28:19 AM
These days I have spurts when a game releases that I actually want, or when I have people over who want to play something. There was a time years ago where I played nearly every day. Over the past year...I don't know, maybe 100 hours. A good chunk of that happened a few weekends ago.
5/24/2011 8:32:04 AM
Not much this year, although I did put in around 40 hours on battle heart just leveling on my iPad. Probably around 200 for the year. Been too busy at work, normally I'm a huge rpg fanatic.
5/24/2011 8:38:54 AM
92 hours of Bad Company 2 on PC, plus miscellaneous Halo with friends
5/24/2011 8:59:01 AM
Pretty much zero. I think the last time I sat down to specifically play a video game was about four years ago. The only times I can recall playing anything is when someone will post a thread about a new online game for wasting time and I'll spend 10min playing and then I'm done. My little sister even gave me her old Wii (with a few games as well) when she got a new one but I haven't even touched it. I guess mainly because with a wife and three small children, I don't have a lot of down time. And with the down time I do have, I prefer to just veg out
5/24/2011 9:11:58 AM
I would say "zero", except that I played dozens of hours of Nazi Zombies (and a little Call of Duty) while I was in Afghanistan. Played a few iPhone games over there, too (Jeopardy, one or two others I don't remember).
5/24/2011 9:14:33 AM
If we're including Angry Birds... < 20 hrs.If we're not including Angry Birds... < 5 hrs.
5/24/2011 9:16:19 AM
People like to unwind in different ways. People who look down on me for playing videogames too much usually have never enjoyed them. They don't understand why people enjoy them so they make fun of them for doing something which carried the stigma of being nerdy up until a few years ago. Now, everyone plays and the videogame industry is larger than the film industry. What's the difference between playing videogames all day on a Sunday or sitting on a couch and watching football for 12 hours straight. To me, videogames are more productive because you actually use your mind and your hands. It is especially more productive if you are playing a Wii or Kinect game.
