but it's the beginning of the month

There has been a lot of police activity up there recently, maybe some sort of crackdown is going on. I saw undercovers with a guy stopped in his truck questioning him for over an hour the other night, I know because he was there when I left and still there when I came back. Also the WCSO corvette, 2 marked, and 2 unmarked had a car stopped on western at kent the other night. That many units is usually not needed just to stop someone for speeding.
6/3/2011 11:21:23 AM
funny they don't have checkpoints like that in other parts of the city.

those apartments down Neeley and Clanton have the cameras and lights on utility poles every hundred yards or so. anybody know who monitors them? and maybe they could provide some insight into who started the fire?
6/3/2011 11:53:43 AM
nice link, frosh.Yeah, there's an increase in drunk students going to class and raising a ruckus.....so they're getting the city involved.

I got stopped at a check point one year on 4th of july on lineberry at 8:30 in the morning. Officer said I looked like I shouldnt be driving yet.

I live off of Kent, and this happens all the time. This is the first one in a few months, but they used to have them on the hill before you hit Kaplan once a month, usually at odd times like sunday mornings. I had to go through it twice today to get home and then back to work at lunch. Seems like they are really targeting a demographic when they set up these checkpoints at these odd times.
6/3/2011 12:38:32 PM
there are a few crack houses there, and then the shit on neely
6/3/2011 12:42:14 PM

If you get a ticket for not renewing your registration you absolutely have no one to blame but yourself. And yes I've gotten one before.^^^^ fuck that. Pay for convenience.[Edited on June 3, 2011 at 1:44 PM. Reason : Trolling]

data suggests poor people commit more crimes, so setting up a checkpoint in those neighborhood makes sense. Maybe they are looking for people with warrants outstanding?
6/3/2011 1:51:51 PM
I just did my registration online and printed off my confirmation to carry with me when I head down that way
