I put a 9v battery in my pocket. It was in there for like 10 minutes and I reached in to get it out and I couldn't even hold it in my hand because it was so hot. What happened???

Will the 9v battery take off?

This is why I always tape my batteries before throwing them away.

This is why I always apply tongue to both anode and cathode simultaneously as a precursor to transport. Not only does this create a slight drain on the energy reserve in the power cell thus making it less dangerous, but it warms up the surface so you're more accustomed to the heat and can get an idea of what you're getting into.

I live dangerously.
