6/15/2011 12:13:18 AM
aren't they supposed to announce them ahead of time
6/15/2011 12:19:03 AM
I really wish this was posted before I drove that way. Epic fail. Expired registration and no inspection ticket. Can't get my Registration until inspection and I have to get the waiver saying I've spent 250 bucks to get my engine light off which will never go off. Wonder what you guys think I should do? Oh yeah and the topper? He made me walk home. I can get my car whenever he isn't there. WTF. Someone post when they are gone please.
6/15/2011 12:22:47 AM
AhahahahahaYou can get your car when they aren't there? If you have AAA i'd get it towed to your house LOLI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.[Edited on June 15, 2011 at 12:24 AM. Reason : ]

^ ^ shit I had something kinda like that happen once and I thought I got fucked by a mando clerk of court appearance even though all fees were waived (no online option), so it cost me nothing but my mandatory time (it was weird but free, not even court fees), and my time is arguably more valuable than this bullshitsecondly, I once got a city ordnance violation for running a stopsign rather than the traffic violation flavor of running stopsign penalty. The difference is the fine is the same but there is no allotment of points for the violation in the case of the city ordnanceI know this is /words, but I thought I'd share with you how fucked up and inconsistent they can be depending on how they feel.

6/15/2011 12:36:34 AM
he made you walk because you reg was expired?
6/15/2011 12:38:46 AM
so it's not that you physically can't.....it's just that he'll be able to make an arrest at that point if he sees you trying....Best response: Officer, are you implying that I should break the law when not in your presence? His response: No. Thank you citizen, carry on. Here's the number to the now disabled and abandoned vehicle we are now impounding.[Edited on June 15, 2011 at 12:40 AM. Reason : ]
6/15/2011 12:39:39 AM
At least he didnt impound your car. Seriously just call a tow-truck and get it towed back before you head out there and find your car gone. if he made you walk home it like isnt far from your place and thus the towing charge shouldnt be more than like $50 for most places
6/15/2011 1:05:28 AM
Just go and drive it tomorrow. Or even an hour from now.he wont sit there all night and wait to give you another ticket. cops are lazy.you'll be fine.

^He's been here longer than you have.
6/15/2011 1:28:39 AM
lol @ poor skaterjaws, really does seem like a dick of a cop to do that. Also, don't you have to drive the car some place to get it inspected to get the registration? seems like a catch 22 if you ask me. I mean honestly, whose going to actually tow their vehicle to an inspection place to get a car legal for the road?
6/15/2011 2:30:42 AM
There was a traffic stop on Kent at 10am on a Friday morning a few weeks back. I was like

Still unconstitutional
6/15/2011 8:48:58 AM
6/15/2011 11:58:59 AM
explain how they are not.where is the reasonable suspicion that leads to the probable cause; or the probable cause on its own?]
6/15/2011 4:45:00 PM
in order to drive a car in NC you have to have current registration. there is now way around it. everyone has to play by the rules on that one.driving is a privilege, not a right.that's all i got. be responsible and this shit doesn't happen.
6/15/2011 4:49:40 PM
It's an unreasonable search
6/15/2011 4:51:16 PM
6/15/2011 4:51:38 PM
^^what is your point about registration? so cops can just pull you over "just to check"? nevermind that they can just run a plate. even with stickers, cops couldn't pull you over "just to check".driving is a privilege; you are correct there.however, your constitutional right to privacy is still a right, no matter if you are partaking in privilege.^the checkpoint is the unlawful search. police can't just stop anyone and ask for papers. no matter what. [Edited on June 15, 2011 at 4:53 PM. Reason : .]
6/15/2011 4:52:06 PM
hahahahait's not an unreasonable search to see your registration is expired.all they have to do is look at your license plate.

here's an idea:don't drive drunk.don't drive around with weed in the front seat.don't have crack pipes in your car.these are just some tips to keep your ass out of jail.
6/15/2011 4:54:55 PM
handcuff yourself to the steering wheelself immolate upon first challenge to your right to drive
6/15/2011 4:56:50 PM
here's an idea:many cops don't even know the laws they enforce.the constitution is still valid in this country.the "just don't break any laws" defense is unsupported.$100 bucks says I can drive around with my pistol (open and/or concealed) and I'll find at least a handful of cops in wake county who think I'm breaking the law.[Edited on June 15, 2011 at 4:57 PM. consider what he did was illegal (due to stupid laws in this case).... and i suggested something completely legal....and I'm no tea bagger. fuck that shit.

did not mean for this thread to turn into TSBsomehow I drove through it, the cops were busy making people walk and/or checking licenses so I just kept on keepin' on

6/15/2011 7:43:39 PM
they will not reset it
6/15/2011 7:52:29 PM
they will reset it. hell you can reset it yourself by simply unhooking the battery.however, the vehicle will not pass inspection if the codes have been reset in less than a certain number of miles. the light is likely to come back on in that number of miles. if it happens to not come on, you're golden.
6/15/2011 7:56:35 PM
Pretty sure I picked it up the next morning. Still pissed because everyone ive talked to the cop didn't make them get out of the car! I'm about to call pots. No joke.
6/25/2011 1:26:08 AM
6/25/2011 1:31:51 AM
1 -- Autozone does not reset it anymore. They used to, but not now. Trust me, I just went through this. But you can unhook the battery.2 -- The rest of what NRR said is correct. Resetting it can work but probably won't, because you have to drive it around long enough and under the right conditions to set all of the readiness flags (a pain in the ass as it is), by which point the light will probably come back on.

volleyball possession is a plague upon America's youth; decriminalize it now.
