i went to see Super 8 at NH tonight and on our way back we saw the most epic wreck. i checked here for the thread and on wral but noooone have covered it. someone went head on into a power pole, we pulled up and had the windows down and all i could hear was the horn just blowing and i realized none of the traffic lights were on and that none of the lights in any of the houses were on either... then the transformer blew and it looked like a fireworkawesome p.s. hope everyone was ok. it literally happened as we were rolling up and people were coming out into their yards to see.

did you get out to help the folks!?you think it was a drunk driver?
6/18/2011 1:15:51 AM
You can't have a head on collision with a power pole.
6/18/2011 1:34:29 AM
You witnessed it, and didnt stop to give a statement, nor check on the welfare of the person? What an asshole
6/18/2011 1:43:24 AM
^^ if you crash head-on into a power pole... what kind of collision is it, exactly?
6/18/2011 1:47:33 AM
A secant?
6/18/2011 1:48:46 AM
You hitting a power pole by being a shitty driver. Head on collision implies that both parties are moving. I had a lady tell me her son got drunk and had a head on collision with a tree...it took everything in me not to laugh in her face.YOU bad drivers trip me out. I bet it was a woman[Edited on June 18, 2011 at 1:50 AM. Reason : ]

Me too

So any time someone hits an immobile object, it's just them being shitty. Gotcha.
6/18/2011 2:16:17 AM
good thing you said awesome and drove awayawesome[Edited on June 18, 2011 at 2:17 AM. Reason : finally read it to placate my blackjesus]
6/18/2011 2:17:30 AM
Yes unless that immobile object has just been put there. Otherwise there is no excuse to hit it.EX. Hitting a 100+ yr old tree is terrible driving. That tree did nothing to you.
6/18/2011 2:19:35 AM
it must not have been too bad, we still have power here.
6/18/2011 2:21:48 AM
You know if you think about the chain of events and witness it from the vantage point of the immobile object it must be pretty depressing/scary.Like oh shit I hope this guy doesn't hit me....oh shit oh shit oh shit...SHIT HE HIT ME
6/18/2011 2:22:03 AM
There is always power in paradise.I think I'll start a religion thread.

my friend, a tree, told me he was wasted and had a head on collision with a car last night. i wonder if it was the same wreck, cause he didnt mention the transformer blowing
6/18/2011 9:02:55 AM
lol no we didn't stop. two other cars and some little neighborhood watch cop (looked like one of those rent-a-cop deals) were already stopping. I was at that funny light before you can turn left onto glenwood from St. Marys (i'm not sure it even is St. Marys once you cross over G-wood) coming from NH... i'm sure some of you know what light i'm talking about. i wish we had taken picsSuper 8 was decent. could have done w/o the pre-pubescent romance but other than that pretty neat.
6/18/2011 9:08:05 AM
who is we? who did you see super 8 with? you dont have a bf do you? :( :( :(
6/18/2011 9:10:11 AM

Raleigh, N.C. — A wreck involving a suspected impaired driver late Friday knocked out power to hundreds of Raleigh residents overnight, police said.Police said the wreck knocked over a power pole at Glenwood Avenue and St. Mary's Street shortly before 11:30 p.m. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the jail for processing.Police blocked traffic on the streets so that Progress Energy crews could replace the power pole.A Progress Energy representative said 1,900 customers were without power at the height of the outage. Service was completely restored around 4:30 a.m.http://www.wral.com/

evlbuxmbetty wins the bad Samaritan award
6/18/2011 6:39:44 PM
geeeze people! if we weren't in Raleigh and an ambulance was less than 3 minutes away from you at any given moment w/i city limits then maybe i would have been more inclined to stop (which i have done on several occasions when i saw someone in distress). There were already cars pulling up that had been on glenwood and what looked like that rent-a-copi'm not gonna feel guilty about not stopping. yes i wish there had been pics. the power pole was effed up and it was super dark.
6/18/2011 6:54:48 PM
leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, you know. wtg.
6/18/2011 7:08:33 PM
not in this case it isn'tbut yea...if you witness something not stopping is the suck. i mean if other cars stopped then it sounds like SOMEONE was there to help/give statements. so that is good and everything probably worked out. but when something happens and NO ONE stops, it really stinks (from experience).
6/18/2011 7:10:24 PM
she wasnt in the accident...she had no mandatory rights to stopDefinition of HEAD-ON1: with the head or front making the initial contact
6/18/2011 7:14:38 PM
^^ Yeah and the more witnesses the cops have to go off of, the easier it makes their job in reconstructing what happened. I know this from many many many car crashes that have happened outside my parents' house. Police and insurance companies are glad to get all the witnesses they can in these situations.
6/18/2011 7:17:23 PM
two cars stopped (in addition to the rent-a-cop), one that was in front of the wrecked car, one that was behind, i think they got it. i have been the 'witness' for a couple accidents and i have been in an accident where multiple witnesses dipped out, and not like a fender-bender, more like a t-bowned someone and totaled my car.now i wish i had stopped and taken pictures
6/18/2011 7:18:55 PM
That's fine you didn't want to be a good Samaritan and stop. You're choice. No need to justify it
6/18/2011 7:20:57 PM
lol you're rightthis is America folks! internet srs business
6/18/2011 7:22:30 PM
why should she get involved in someone's business when others where already on scene?this is coming from someone who spent 5 years as a volunteer EMT and has been at more wrecks than everyone in this thread combined[Edited on June 18, 2011 at 7:24 PM. 6/18/2011 7:22:52 PM
well it depends. lots of people stop, but not everyone is going to be trained in first aid/ cpr. could just be someone who wants to help but is really just freaking out on the phone with 911. relying on others is not a good way of looking at it.
6/18/2011 7:25:01 PM
In my mind it's not necessarily about helping the people in the car, it's about providing a statement to help the police. I've seen way too many drunk drivers try to claim all sorts of ridiculous bullshit once the police arrive to the scene. Having lots of witnesses going, "uhhhhhh yeah no this is REALLY what happened," that corroborates with each other is good especially when it's your property that got fucked up and you have to file a claim against the idiot's insurance
6/18/2011 7:27:46 PM
6/18/2011 7:30:16 PM
ok so she states that at least 3 other vehicles were already on scene; why did she need to waste her time?
6/18/2011 7:37:24 PM
Buxm is still an asshole, itt/thread
6/18/2011 7:38:11 PM
if other cars were on the scene i wouldnt have either

one time it was storming on 40 (REAL BAD, with like hail) on the drive back from raleigh to gboroand i saw a wreck in the middle of 40i did not stop. i did call 911, though. it didn't look bad (someone rear ended someone probably because the person slammed on the breaks due to the storm and the other person couldn't see due to the storm...there was like 0 visibility). PLUS i probably would have gotten killed trying to help. so i didn't stop just called 911i too have been an asshole, whooopsedit: the wreck was already reported by someone else, too. i felt like my duty was done. my b[Edited on June 18, 2011 at 7:46 PM. i love how the awesome wreck i saw last night has turned into some moral argumenti hate the fact that people slow down/stare/stop when there is a wreck, so i'm sure that somewhere in my head the connection was made to "not be that asshole" who stops when there is obviously enough aid at handi made it home safe last night, and i was able to take two friends of mine that are dear to me off safely at their own houses, thats all that matters to me from last night
