My dentist says I should get them pulled. Whats the logic behind pulling perfectly good teeth. I think I'm gonna keep em.

They fuck up the alignment of your other teeth if they come in at a bad angle

Usually not enough room and get impacted and whatnot.I could hardly open my mouth when mine started coming in

my wisdom teeth were perfect...in that they were set to push out my back teeth...got them chiseled out when i was 12

I have all 4. No problems but the dentist is telling me to pull em. And since I'm a student I don't have dental so I have to pay out the pocket. I'm keeping em.

Why does the dentist say to pull them?I mean my mom has all 4 still and I think my sister has hers tooMy dad had his pulled because that's just what the Marines do with them[Edited on July 2, 2011 at 3:21 PM. Reason : lkj]

Hard to keep em clean. They say they will develop cavities and end up being a abscess. They'll last till I get a real job with benefits.

My wisdom teeth have been coming in for about 15 years...But they are straight and haven't messed up the rest of my perfect teeth
7/2/2011 3:23:06 PM
If one of the gets a cavity on the back side (which is common, because you damn sure can't get floss or a brush back there), it will eventually rot... and when it rots, it will then break in half, leave a nerve exposed, and cause excruciating pain. This happened to me over memorial day weekend. So get them out. ASAP.

The younger you are, the faster you'll recover. But as long as they aren't causing immediate problems, no reason not to wait until you'll have dental coverage (if you expect that will happen in the next 5 years or so) and get it done then if you feel you need to, and take good care of them in the mean time.

BUY SOME LAND, FUCK SPINNIN RIMS

yeah, you can wait 5 years but many dentists will refuse to fill cavities on the things, and the longer you wait the more likely the gums never heal right. i still have pain in the scars from mine done 3 years ago, and my mom waited very late, like 26 or so, and she had to have tissue grafts because it never healed right.

I had mine out about seven or eight years ago now. Really nice drugs. But I had an easy time of it, too. No swelling, no vomiting, no excessive soreness. I was mostly annoyed about having to avoid certain foods. My poor sister on the other hand looked like she got hit in the face with a shovel quite a few times after her surgery.

Everyone without wisdom teeth say yeahYeaaahhhhh
7/2/2011 4:49:14 PM
It all depends on how much space you have in your mouth. Either you do have space or you don't and you have to get them pulled.
7/2/2011 4:52:16 PM
one of my wisdom teeth is sideways now and it's fine, there's a divide between the medical establishment over whether to extract non symptomatic or not but they say if you've got no problems by age 25 or 26 you should be ok
7/2/2011 7:43:03 PM
Before I got braces, I had four teeth removed, so I figured the wisdom teeth were gonna have to come out....got them cut out way early (x-rays showed all four, in early stages, so we went ahead and cut them out). So, four for praces and then the wisdom teeth were cut out. They put me under when I got mine cut out. I woke up and threw up blood first thing....

It's like a circumcision for your mouth.
7/2/2011 8:11:34 PM
I had 2 wisdom teeth coming in bad, and 2 coming in okay. But got them all removed at once, because I didn't want to deal with potentially having to have a second removal session.
7/2/2011 9:22:20 PM
I removed my impacted wisdom teeth by hand. You just need crisco, an xbox 360 controller, a spork, and a 24 piece ratchet set.

After reading all these stories, I am seriously thankful for my dental defect
7/2/2011 9:50:34 PM
My parents had mine removed when I was 16, all I have to say is stay the hell away from the guy that fucked up my mouth back in SC. Make sure you get someone good. My brother went to the same guy that fixed my mouth (Dr. Blakey at the UNC dental school, http://www.dentistry.unc.edu/ce/ahec/biosketch.cfm?employeeid=1959 ), and zero problems for him.
