i f there is already a thread about this then i apologize... im the worst for making duplicate threads BUTi wanna glue some little rhinestones and a few protruding spike things on a shoe.what type of glue should i use? i need something that will hold really really really tight for a long time.
7/27/2011 11:03:43 AM
Crazy glue.[Edited on July 27, 2011 at 11:06 AM. Reason : Get the gel kind.]
7/27/2011 11:04:31 AM
i dont think crazy glue will be tight enough, i tried it on some other crafts and with with only slight manhandling it popped right off.considering this is a shoe i need something hard fucking core
7/27/2011 11:06:42 AM
get a bedazzler
7/27/2011 11:11:11 AM
This thread is a ruse for vajazzlingDo not lie
7/27/2011 11:11:30 AM
it must be a mess down there if she's calling it her shoe [Edited on July 27, 2011 at 11:12 AM. Reason : velcro straps everywhere]
7/27/2011 11:12:28 AM
This surely is the answer http://www.etsy.com/listing/70821524/super-strong-quick-drying-craft-glueplease note that it is 50% stronger than normal glue.[Edited on July 27, 2011 at 11:13 AM. Reason : haha, I didnt even realize it straight calls out bedazzling your shoes in the details]
7/27/2011 11:12:51 AM
lol at many of these comments
7/27/2011 11:13:33 AM
Alene's has some glue specifically for rhinestones....I did a tshirt like 7 years ago and none of them have come off yet. The tshirt is barely alive, but those damn things are still stuckThey have other glues too that I love...but check the site http://www.ilovetocreate.com/aleenes.aspx
7/27/2011 11:15:50 AM
sweet thanks babyboo i also found a youtube video that said E6000ill probably try ^ first though
7/27/2011 11:18:35 AM
epoxy would be the best adhesive but a backside rivot would be better. epoxy a rivot or anchor to the jewel/spike, make a pilot hole, feed the rivot or anchor, flare accordingly.
7/27/2011 11:18:52 AM
Its at all the craft stores....think I got mine from AC Moore
7/27/2011 11:20:17 AM
I thought this thread was about WoW
7/27/2011 11:26:34 AM
Joie, when I made those mardi gras shoes for my friend we just used hot glue... They held really well but you have to let them sit for a while
7/27/2011 11:29:20 AM
i've also had bad experience with epoxy.almost all of my cake stands are no more [Edited on July 27, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Reason : ps i have no idea what a backside rivot is ]
7/27/2011 11:29:30 AM
How heavy are the spikes?
7/27/2011 11:30:48 AM
E6000, I've used it before for rhinestones holds really really well.
7/27/2011 11:32:05 AM
i havent gotten them yet lol. i was debating drilling holes in the shoes for those but i now realize thats probably not a good idea
7/27/2011 11:32:18 AM
I still suggest hot glue
7/27/2011 11:33:20 AM
i may try that too.i have a grand idea for a shoe project (that will probably end up horribly )im gonna make cody take me to michaels tongiht to see if i can get the basics (ive got the shoes im gonna use already )
7/27/2011 11:34:24 AM
Are you making a version of these? Because I love them and used to try them on all the time at Saks
7/27/2011 11:37:57 AM
^ no ma'am biut i do think i will something similar to pair that lebron james decided to tear up the heel on im going for a very clunky, haphazard jewel/spike combo.i have a picture in my head ;
7/27/2011 11:42:22 AM
Put 'em on some crocs
7/27/2011 11:50:41 AM
E6000 would probably work too
7/27/2011 2:36:52 PM
get the ready mix epoxy from lowes. it mixes from two separate tubes and dries clear...good luck getting whatever you use that shit on, off again.
7/27/2011 2:38:34 PM
The name E6000 intimidates me a little bit.
7/27/2011 2:44:32 PM
i think the main problem with the epoxy is the mixing. it's time consuming to put one tiny drop on the back of every stone and it starts getting stiff and hard to control that precisely pretty fast. then there's the whole can't-clean-a drip-the-instant-it-happens thing. do they have one that will mix in the tube yet and magically not get plugged up? [Edited on July 27, 2011 at 2:48 PM. Reason : ^it's the only substance that will stick polymer clay together]
7/27/2011 2:47:47 PM
epoxy works based on a chemical reaction...once mixed, the clock is ticking.
7/27/2011 2:50:05 PM
^ and ^^Also if you get the mixture off even slightly you end up with a gooey mess.Either use the craft glue (made for fabrics if your shoe is fabric)OrUse Gorilla glue.
7/27/2011 4:02:21 PM
i knew that but ive never been able to get it to work right for me the few times i used it
7/27/2011 4:03:23 PM
official adhesive thread
7/27/2011 4:08:37 PM
my balls retreated inside me after looking at that shoe
7/27/2011 4:09:00 PM
I second gorilla glue.
7/27/2011 4:20:28 PM
gorilla glue expands as it sets though[Edited on July 27, 2011 at 4:28 PM. Reason : it is currently holding one of my shoes together though ]
7/27/2011 4:28:17 PM
^meaning if you put it under something, use VERY little or it will get raised up and easier to dislodge.
7/27/2011 4:29:38 PM
just go get the aleene's and call it a day
7/27/2011 4:30:09 PM
7/27/2011 4:59:24 PM
i use e6000 for all of my crafting, the only thing you cant use it on is styrofoam or craft foami made a glass cake stand using e6000you can get it at walmart in the craft section
7/27/2011 5:05:06 PM
sweet
7/27/2011 5:05:56 PM
GORILLA glue!!!
