is this common knowledge?

Really? The move starts with the text, "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...".
7/27/2011 5:44:19 PM
i remember a bunch of text at the beginning but i never read it
7/27/2011 5:45:13 PM
It's a trap!
7/27/2011 5:45:38 PM
i thought "it's a trap" was from star trek
7/27/2011 5:47:12 PM
It's a troll!
7/27/2011 5:49:07 PM
^^ Because of this, I'm going to assume this is a troll thread.otherwise, massive amounts of would ensue.I just kind of assumed it was in an alternate universe/galaxy, as some of the technology is around where we are (walky talky kinda things), some of it's a little less advanced (some amount of cooking), and some of it's mad crazy advanced (all of the land vehicles that aren't pulled by creatures hover, light sabers, traveling through space, etcerera)[Edited on July 27, 2011 at 5:50 PM. Reason : ^^]
7/27/2011 5:50:22 PM
if it's an alternate universe then i don't feel so bad, because the time in our universe wouldn't have anything to do with the time in the alternate universe
7/27/2011 5:51:54 PM
Alternate galaxy and time dimension, I guess, as I think you'll find that the universe pretty much covers everything.
7/27/2011 5:55:13 PM
I thought Star Trek and Star Wars took place in the same galaxy/time frame.
7/27/2011 5:55:27 PM
star trek is def in the future

This book is the philosophical foundation that said Lucas franchise rests upon.Campbell spent many a night at the Skywalker Ranch.Read this and you'll know that Vader is Vishnu, which is also inspiration for the name, Vader, derived etymologically from Vishnu[Edited on July 27, 2011 at 6:21 PM. I don't usually watch the end movie credits unless you're supposed to like Hangover or Ferris Bueller or if they have outtakesbut the opening credits? come on, man
7/27/2011 6:26:57 PM
Its funny how technology in the newer movies seemed more advanced than it did in the older movies. Lucas kind've dropped the ball with that one. I would almost give an arm to see episodes 7, 8 and 9 made though.

The original trilogy is amazing in not only how inspirational it was to so much that came after it, but also how incredibly dense it is with references and subtle nods to everything that came before it. I believe James Rolfe (The Angry Nerd) did a review of the original trilogy and touched on all the things that inspired it, and how it pays homage to them. It's worth the watch. Also,
