it never ends
9/13/2011 10:23:17 AM
We are always rebuilding brah
9/13/2011 10:33:44 AM
Damn those facilities upgrades! I want to be learning in a 1920s era building with no A/C, internet, or other newfangled thinkin machines.
9/13/2011 10:35:52 AM
what's the "problem" these days?
9/13/2011 10:37:34 AM
never forget

Irony:President Obama is coming to campus to give a speech about jobs, therefore our project outside Reynolds is getting shuttered for a day.
9/13/2011 11:01:38 AM
Irony? Fucking really?
9/13/2011 11:04:39 AM
SRY BOUT YER FERLOW BRA

Back when I was still on campus the excuse for all the construction was:Hey, the Court of North Carolina isn't going to destroy itself.
9/13/2011 12:03:13 PM
this is hardly exclusive to nc state.
9/13/2011 12:05:21 PM
As UNC's enrollment continues to increase we have to continue to add more bricks.
9/13/2011 12:06:33 PM
But honestly, what was wrong with Talley the way it was?
9/13/2011 5:25:34 PM
it didn't cost enough money to build
9/13/2011 7:12:05 PM
I blame the UNC system. Universities of Never-ending Construction.
9/13/2011 10:03:15 PM
9/13/2011 10:04:10 PM
^ That has more to do with the "community" than the actual facilities, I'd say.

9/13/2011 10:51:01 PM
^^So, and I implore you genuinely on this, what will the additions be like to Talley. I'm not particularly well-versed in regard to the details of construction. Also, student centers like malls? I need to get out more.[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 10:51 PM. Reason : carrots]
9/13/2011 10:51:32 PM
turds always need a good, vigorous polishing
9/13/2011 10:59:50 PM
it's amazing to me how much some of you hate nc state.
9/13/2011 11:19:59 PM
people are still in school?
9/14/2011 6:35:19 AM
^^^^I'm sure Rodgers Builders would let you look at the plans.Go to Admin Services III and ask to speak to the NCSU Project Manager for the Talley Renovations.

^ Thank you. At worst, it looks incredibly impressive. At least based of the concept:As long as the outdoor area is as impressive as the building itself - but I have little doubt NCSU landscaping will let me down in that respect.
9/14/2011 9:28:57 AM
From what I hear they're putting a lot of effort into the landscaping as part of the green initiative they have for this project and also to keep with the focus of making it a pedestrian hub. People want to walk around where it's nice to look at.

Centennial Campus Student Housing is going to start construction this fall. There will be a dining hall south of EBIII and 5 dorms similar to Wolf Village south and east of the engineering buildings. A new road is going to be cut from EBIII to Achievement Dr. as well.Barnhill and Balfour Beatty have joint-ventured on the project and the early site packages are bidding 9/27 with an October start.

Lesson #1: The final product rarely looks much like the Architect's renderings.Lesson #2: You'll most likely never experience the actual view of an Architect's renderings, which are chosen to sell a product.]

I really wish there was a small gym near the EBs
9/14/2011 9:55:11 AM
and people wonder why tuition keeps going up...

This is pretty interesting about the overall design plan they have for the university currently: http://www.ncsu.edu/facilities/physical_master_plan/pdfs/A_Campus_of_Neighborhoods_and_Paths_11-07-2007.pdf

i'm waiting for the people mover I saw back in their grand 10 year plan. oh by the way, its almost that time isn't it?
9/15/2011 9:08:29 AM
The funding for that dried up with the economy methinks.
9/15/2011 9:09:36 AM
9/15/2011 9:15:04 AM
^because the university refuses to use its own, valuable resources on a larger scale to have true, positive impacts on campus and education. For example, for any such project on campus...Landscape Architect, Landscape Design, and Horticulture students should be coming up with the designs, selecting species, planting, and doing some maintaining/upgrading.Civil, Environmental, Structural, Geotechnical, Construction, Mechanical, and Electrical students should be part of the design and build processes of new buildings, and any rehabilitating/upgrade projectsCivil & BAE Water/Environmental students should be involved with designing, installing, maintaining, upgrading, etc. any stormwater/environmental features on campus.
9/15/2011 10:01:55 AM
are you joking? you want undergrads to design buildings? undergrads don't know a fucking thing. and just to be clear, my undergrad was in civil engineering, and i would be embarrassed for the university if anything i designed as an undergrad was constructed on campus.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 10:56 AM. I can't wait for that big green landscaping section to be bricked in to minimize the number of mexicans that must be employed to keep the grass short.

^^ we can all walk across and kill it, like we do near the library/brickyard
