Does this mean George Lucas is smarter than NASA to come up with this first... or is he psychic?
9/15/2011 4:58:52 PM
I don't know about that but the motherfucker is raping the shit out of my childhood with even more changes to the trilogy.
9/15/2011 5:57:17 PM
The day before the entire saga comes out on Blu-Ray
9/15/2011 5:59:43 PM
and I'm a Kwisatz Haderach, can we honor Frank Herbert?
9/15/2011 6:21:04 PM
wait, what else did he change? CGI yoda right?
9/15/2011 6:23:29 PM
whatever the case, I dont think it's possible to have a sunset like the one in the Star Wars pic (sun positions)
9/15/2011 7:40:31 PM
What kind of loser works on a moisture farm?
9/15/2011 7:48:12 PM
if you are on a high orbit moon of a gas planet (like titan), the planet could look like that "sun" on the bottom right but the angle would have to be much wider.
9/15/2011 7:52:09 PM
There's a lot of differences:
9/15/2011 7:55:56 PM
In the Blu-Ray, Alderaan shot first.
9/15/2011 8:42:26 PM
Two suns? Tell me when they get to a planet with three and one of which that is blue. /Pitch Black

Uh, Star Wars was based on a true story. George Lucas is from the future and witnessed all of this and said, "hey, those hippies would love a fucking space story!". So he wrote the script, traveled back in time, and wham, we've got star wars.
9/16/2011 9:35:38 AM
time travel will never exist
9/16/2011 9:41:45 AM
So far in the future he was in a galaxy both long ago and far far away.
9/16/2011 9:47:50 AM

my blu ray set is arriving today.......i am pissed about the stupid changes lucas made, but i still am excited to see star wars in 1080p
9/16/2011 9:59:12 AM
I wish I had mine ordered with faster shipping right now, dont think mine will be here till next week
9/16/2011 10:03:19 AM
is it a wretched hive of scum and villainy?
9/16/2011 11:31:50 AM
Wow this is pretty interesting.
9/16/2011 12:14:43 PM
i fucking loveNASA and SETI nerds
9/16/2011 12:26:10 PM
So how long have scientists known about binary stars? Did they just make an assumption that all binary star systems had NO planets up until now? Edit: I guess you have to make some assumption until there is proof that there was one.[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Reason : -]
9/16/2011 12:58:03 PM
i think maybe that everyone has always known they exist, but now we have just proven it.kind of like living beings not from earth will be in about 20 years
9/16/2011 1:00:49 PM
^^imagine the chances of having a binary star system situated *just right* so that we on Earth see a planet pass across both suns. it's hard enough seeing a planet cross a single star
9/17/2011 10:18:21 PM
would we need the planet to pass in front of both stars, though? all we need to know is that it's a binary star and to see the planet in front of one star, right?
9/17/2011 10:20:52 PM
I thought it was based on the wobble of both. Maybe I should read the article again.
9/17/2011 10:30:57 PM
^^I think if it passes one sun of a binary system, it would have to pass the other as well from our POV. If only it only passes one, the planet wouldn't be in the same plane as the system and could just be some asteroid going by.

More youth-oriented alterations:
9/18/2011 4:31:04 PM
^ couldn't an asteroid easily go through both as well, then?
