What's the best place to stay and party in Savannah GA? I'm planning a bachelor party and we are going to stay one night on Savannah on our way to Florida for a cruise. I need to find a hotel near the nightlife scene as well as some cool place to go. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you get too drunk, just hop on the SCAD bus.

well i was looking at getting a hotel in the Historic District in walking distance to most of the restaurants and bars in that area.

Most of the bars/restaurants are going to be near the water, on River Street, Bay Street, Broughton Street, etc. so your best bet is probably going to be to stay around there. I know there's a good sized Hilton (?) on River Street, and some others in the vicinity. No personal experience with those as I stayed at a B&B the one time I went, but it sounds like the location you'll want. The farther away from the water and toward the Victorian district you go, the less bars/nightlife you encounter. Very cool area that way but not for a bachelor party.[Edited on September 27, 2011 at 11:14 AM. Reason : d]

Savannah is not very big. We stayed at The Marriott and could walk to river street easily. River Street is where you probably wanna go.

You definitely want to stay on Bay Street if possible. River Street is $50-$100 more than some of the places on Bay St and they are literally parallel to each other. The Double Tree Inn is pretty nice and there is a Hilton Garden Inn right next to it.Savannah has no open beverage law so you get beers to go wherever you go down there. That is truly awesome by the way. Pour Larry's which is under ground, across from Wild Wings in the City Market is a cool little place. Ask for an Apple Pie shot. It's basically a grain alcohol shot that will put you on your ass. It tastes fantastic though. It's one of the best shots I've ever had.Rogue Water is also a cool bar.The Rail is a dive bar with cheap beer near there as well.Murphy's Law is a good bar as well (next to the Rail).Oh and don't forget about Sweet Melissa's pizza after you are done at the bars. That is seriously some of the best pizza I've ever had.[Edited on September 27, 2011 at 12:22 PM. Reason : .]

Oh I wasn't saying all of Savannah wasn't a good idea--just the part farther away from the water (guess that was ambiguous). You'll have a good time on/near River Street.

Savannah is a great stopover for a trip like this.Otherwise it's not worth spending more than one night unless you're there for st. patty's day weekend.

I definitely recommend stopping by Wet Willies and getting a "Call a Cab". Shit is potent. Also, we had a great time at my BIL's BP down there. We went deep sea fishing and didn't spend the entire time downtown.
