SI hate them. Also, the only people I've ever worked with that use them have been pompous douchebags

We have someone here who requests one on every email. Once I saw her inbox and it was bombed out with the replies, and I felt a small surge of happy when I thought of her having to delete all that garbage. I never let my outlook send the reply, thus making the entire practice unreliable anyway.

I definitely use them when I know it's someone who's going to say "I never got that email", bullshit buddy I have proof you read it. Not MY problem if they don't follow-through.

I always get them with spam.

except if you don't let the email actually reply to the receipt...

I have increasingly been seeing this with press releases. That or press releases marked as high importance. Both piss me off greatly.

i rarely get that. right now i'm getting things marked URGENT that are of no importance whatsoever. no, you dropping your flashdrive somewhere in the hallway does not constitute an emergency.

At my office they updated the email, and now you have to turn off read receipts on every single computerI didn't know that when I sent an email to everyone at the command to announce that my co-worker had a baby. I still get receipts from that and it was months ago
