i don't understand the uproar over this picture.was every single new yorker supposed to be at ground zero having a breakdown?they are just sitting there, it's not like they were making a mockery of the attacks or anything.i'm confused.
10/13/2011 9:04:08 PM
i would have been doing the exact same thing, give or take a sunkist

Nah you can tell in the picture that these liberal hippies are thinking the people in lower manhatten brought this upon themselves and somehow, deep down inside their hipster minds, they are enjoying the view and quite relaxed.

attention seems focused by everyone to the guy on the far right

in high school i remember everyone being somber when watching it for about the first 30 min, then goofing off, doing HW, etc.

Asides from the big plume of spoke and some several thousand people's lives at risk, it was a beautiful day.

I doubt there will ever be a "where were you moment" where people everywhere are sharing a collective experience like the moon landing or the JFK assassination. Our culture is so fractured with everybody doing their own thing.
10/13/2011 11:54:59 PM
pretty sure 9/11 was one of those moments
10/13/2011 11:55:49 PM
9/11 is always talked about in a "where were you moment" kind of way (with my friends and I at least)

Where were you when Bob Barker died?
10/14/2011 12:02:13 AM

Where were you when NC State won the football national championship?
10/14/2011 7:29:44 AM
were they called hipsters back in 2001?
10/14/2011 8:14:39 AM
no, we still just called them douchebags back then
10/14/2011 8:19:59 AM
10/14/2011 8:43:07 AM
^^pretty sure we still do

I don't understand why this is controversial. I watched the news while getting ready, then met with a client about what they wanted done with their web site. We discussed how terrible this was while we conducted business, but I mean what else are you supposed to do? If I'd been in NYC I, too, would have watched the scene from a distance with people I care about.
