i guess so... this was from the late cretaceous though... before the dinosaurs died out... i think it's pretty rare to find a complete skull from mammals of that era (they were small, so when they died their bodies were almost always eaten by scavengers)

Just kidding. I did read an article on this the other day and began to wonder what modern day squirrels evolved to take the place of those huge teeth. Faster maybe?

i'm not sure modern squirrels are directly descended from these guys, but i'd assume a change in diet was one of the main things... taking advantage of an abundant food source would probably increase chances of having offspring survive until they have offspring themselves.
