I do Grey as a color and Gray as a name...but now that I've looked at those words and I thought about it for too long they look and sound really weird to me so I just don't know anymore.

Unless you're British, you have absolutely no fucking reason to use grey. I'm an editor and that shit annoys the hell out of me--and I know plenty of other editors and writers that will go out of their way to correct it, especially if someone is intentionally using "grey". I know it's a little zealous, but whatever.

Yes, for some reason people don't understand that it's simply an American - British difference, but in academia you really shouldn't use grey. You'll honestly be straight-up ignored for it.
