I'm going with an artificial tree, but getting a real wreath for the smell of Christmas.
11/19/2011 5:53:44 PM
^That's what we do.
11/19/2011 5:55:07 PM
this will be the first year we get a tree it will be an artificial Charlie Brown tree, something small that we can put on top of a table and keep away from the cats. if we get a real tree, the cats will just sit there and chew on the lower limbs, eventually puking Christmas-scented pine needle piles throughout the house.
11/19/2011 5:58:24 PM
i've always been a real dealer
11/19/2011 5:59:13 PM
RealI like the smell and uniqueness of a real tree. Every year is a little different.[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 6:18 PM. Reason : l]

real
11/19/2011 6:19:57 PM
pryderi wants to get an artificial tree, so he won't contribute to the evil logging and forestry industriesbut wouldnt he also want an all natural and organic tree, instead of something manufactured while emitting deadly gases like CO2 in a factory setting that possibly employed child labor?what a conundrum]

The cats have tried to eat every single plant we've ever had in this house. When hubby gets me flowers, they jump onto the table and chew on the leaves. It's just a guess.
11/19/2011 6:58:52 PM
Time to bring home some Poinsettias then.
11/19/2011 7:13:00 PM
11/19/2011 7:17:38 PM
Artificial trees, or for that matter decorative plants of any kind at any time, are a scourge.
11/19/2011 7:29:44 PM
I dont trust anyone who has a fake Christmas tree
11/19/2011 7:32:07 PM
clearly that is a fake tree
11/19/2011 7:32:54 PM
I never knew anyone that used a real tree anymore until I was about 25
11/19/2011 7:48:45 PM
Goddamn, that's right up there with, say, your mother smoking crack while pregnant or your uncle molesting you. Artificial Christmas trees at every turn? Damn, dude, you never even had a chance.
11/19/2011 8:16:16 PM
11/19/2011 8:27:18 PM
what? I still dont know many people that use real trees, I haven't keep a spreadsheet or anything but I would estimate that 95% of the time that I for some reason discovered if a particular person used a real or fake tree it was a fake one. There are a few people that used real ones but definitely the vast minority.

11/19/2011 8:28:56 PM
I really, really want a real tree, but I don't know how to get it home in my honda civic
11/19/2011 8:32:46 PM
My family runs deep in the christmas tree gameSupport your local Ernie
11/19/2011 8:34:42 PM
^^ Throw a blanket on the roof, throw tree on top of blanket, roll down windows, get in car, get tree sellers to wrap twine through windows of car and over tree. That's how my family always did it and they drove one of these when I was growing up:[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 8:35 PM. Reason : a]
11/19/2011 8:34:58 PM
dont get a flat tire on the way home and accidentally cuss around your dad when the upturned hubcap gets knocked in the air and the lug nuts go everywhere illuminated in the glow of headlights.
11/19/2011 8:37:19 PM
lol
11/19/2011 8:39:46 PM
Gotta have a real tree. For a while my mom bought trees with a root ball and I had to plant those fuckers in the yard after Christmas. Frozen clay can be a bitch to dig in
11/19/2011 8:42:48 PM
Real State fans buy their Christmas trees from Tommy Burleson.
11/19/2011 8:44:25 PM
We always buy our trees from the dude that has Mr. Wuf on his sign at the farmers' market.
11/19/2011 8:45:28 PM
REAL!!!
11/19/2011 8:59:20 PM
I got dat 190% fake
11/19/2011 9:24:22 PM
real trees make me ridiculously sick.artificial
11/19/2011 9:30:59 PM
ours is fake, but I will be burning lots of tree scented candles
11/19/2011 9:33:13 PM
Fake. I can tell by the pixels and seeing lots of shops trees in my time.and
11/19/2011 9:43:05 PM
Or you guys could come buy your trees from me and my brothers. We grow them in allegheny county in the northwest part of the state and sell them here in the raleigh area. learned it from my dad who learned it from my grandfather (forestry major at state in the 1940's) and really helped get the fraser fir industry started here in NC as the state forester. We are selling the first crop raised by me and my brothers this year.
11/19/2011 9:58:29 PM
Where?
11/19/2011 9:59:36 PM
Yeah, let us know where
11/19/2011 10:12:08 PM
Will be selling them at my church on blue ridge road. St Pauls Christian Church3331 Blue ridge roadRaleigh NC The trees should be available next weekend. I am going to try and have them up for the friday following thanksgiving. I dont know what hours we will be "open" yet but should be there at least late morning on until dark. I will probably post a thread a bit closer to the day and get yelled at for needing to buy an ad.
11/19/2011 10:45:42 PM
Real dammit : D
11/19/2011 10:50:53 PM
We are going to shop local which means I get to drive even farther with a tree on my roof. Maybe I'll just flirt with my neighbor and see if he'll let me use his big truck. He might be gay though, maybe Peter should flirt with the neighbor
11/19/2011 11:02:32 PM
We used to drive from Garner to basically Durham with the tree. Unless a mental midget ties the tree to your car or you go ridiculously fast with the tree on there you should be fine.
11/19/2011 11:04:42 PM
11/20/2011 1:34:18 AM
we always get the biggest, cheapest, real tree that will fit in our dwellingNot cause we are cheap skates but because we try to give the ugly trees love.
11/20/2011 1:40:57 AM
artificial christmas trees are horrible, horrible, horrible. whats wrong with you people?
11/20/2011 3:24:47 AM
Def buy a real tree from Burleson! They're the best. And those guys are so nice. I see nothing wrong with artificial, but it just depends on your lifestyle. If you travel a lot or have pets, a fake can be a better option. We have a real palm tree in our house. I'm wrapping the trunk with lights, then wrapping the base with a pretty skirt. Add a couple of bows and voila ... FL Xmas tree.
11/20/2011 7:24:11 AM
11/20/2011 11:21:34 AM
I don't understand the hate for fake trees- they are definitely safer, they don't shed all over the place, and it is a one time purchase. The only way I would ever use a real tree is if we went and cut it down ourselves. And as long as you don't cheap out, you can't even tell it is fake unless you get right on top of it
11/20/2011 11:35:32 AM
Amen. A good number of December house fires are started because a real tree got too dry.If you can't take care of a real tree properly, then a fake is the way to go.
11/20/2011 11:38:53 AM
I have set a dried out Christmas tree on fire before.I really don't want to ever get a real tree anymore. Yes, if you water it the hazard is small, but there's a good chance that things won't go as planned, people will get lazy in Jan, etc.
11/20/2011 11:47:30 AM
I think it is more about tradition for people than anything else. Eventually, we'll get an artificial, but I want at least one Christmas with a real tree.
11/20/2011 11:48:23 AM
11/20/2011 11:54:18 AM
I don't have a tree but I would go for an artificial tree because I am a cheap bastard and there is no risk of a fire
