http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/11/just_how_much_is_15_trillion.htmlI love comparisons such as the one made in the article... awesome read. Haven't checked the numbers yet, but looks OK.

I only read the first paragraph but why exactly can the human mind not comprehend a trillion? What do they mean "our vocabulary can't describe it"? It seems to work pretty well, we even have a word for it.[Edited on November 29, 2011 at 1:55 PM. Reason : ^ Lol both points ninjad]

Wow. All the bases I wanted to cover ITT.1) Yeah, we can comprehend and imagine 15 trillion, hell we spent it.2) Vocabulary cannot describe it? Ha. How does this article exist?3) A mountain? I'll just stack 15 of these:Would that even eclipse a molehill?4) Since there isn't enough room between here and the sun to pay off our debt, we can safely say that we've outspent space. Space ends at the sun. The more you know \/ Is that some sort of site that's after the same target market as the onion or something. I'm usually behind on these things.[Edited on November 29, 2011 at 2:15 PM. Reason : -]

some of you are so blinded by hatred, that you can't see the fucking link (where i read the article) at the very beginning of my post.

It's dumb as fuck no matter where it comes from.

I've got one...Trying to paying off the 15 trillion national debt is like you're unraveling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting! [Edited on November 29, 2011 at 2:22 PM. Reason : -]

These visual representations of the debt don't do much for me. It's a lot and we'll never pay it off. The stated goal is to roll over debt forever. People can be so stupid. They will demand that their government borrow money to pay for current expenses, apparently not understanding that the money will have to be paid back. The citizens of these debt-saturated countries that sat idly during the "good times", while the government borrowed and spent money, deserve what's coming to them for being so complacent and obedient.

I like articles like this - fun with numbers.

^Yea until people start over-analyzing it, although I'm convinced a couple people intentionally misread it so that they could have more complaints.

1 trillion dollars, in $100 bills. Stacked 2 pallets high (~7 feet) it's roughly a football field. So 15 trillion is roughly a football field stacked about 100 feet deep in $100 bills. Or roughly double the height of the lightpoles if you're at a high school football field.[Edited on November 29, 2011 at 3:52 PM. Reason : /]

why don't we just print that many dollars and pay back our debt?

Why don't we just mint a $15,000,000,000,000 coin and then give it away!
