12/8/2011 10:47:48 PM
is obtaining previous finals against your stated policies or something? i mean, pretty much every professor i ever had in the hard sciences provided old exams and solutions as practice exams to help us study.
12/8/2011 10:51:24 PM
I bet DDK told that user to pm GreatGazoo
12/8/2011 10:55:00 PM
^^ Seriously, yes, finals have always been off limits: they are never returned (though, of course, students may review them in my office). I actually provide old exams as practice for the in-class exams.
12/8/2011 11:02:54 PM
Jeez o flip, the Great Gazoo is a big ol' nerd. BTW, do you have Dr. Warren's old CH201 final?
12/8/2011 11:07:00 PM
Yo greatgazoo what's that embroidery term you nerded out around the dropdeadkate era of tww?I'm Krallum and I approved this message
12/8/2011 11:16:18 PM
^^^ Why do you not return finals, other than to prevent people from seeing old exams? That seems antithetical to the goal of enabling your students to learn. I'm not trying to insult you as a teacher, but it seems like the main advantage of not returning them is solely to your own benefit, to allow you to be lazier about writing future exams.
12/8/2011 11:22:59 PM
I never had a professor return a final.
12/8/2011 11:23:47 PM
in law school not only do they guard the exam but they guard YOUR portion of the exam, you can only get supervised review of your own answers

Is it normal for a junior in biochem to be taking CH201? In AE I remember taking that my first semester sophomore year. Maybe he is one of those "everyone else at NC State would say I'm a sophomore, but I have enough credit hours for the university to call me a junior" kind of juniors?
