How many guys say this to female friends? Is it just ones you'd like to fuck or attracted to? What sort of situations is appropriate for this? Please don't call me babe when we're not even dating.
12/16/2011 4:52:05 PM
are you amenable to "darling"?
12/16/2011 4:55:21 PM
only douchebags say babe.honey is awkward in almost every situation.sweetheart is great for girlfriends, creepy towards anyone else[Edited on December 16, 2011 at 4:56 PM. Reason : my 2 cents]
12/16/2011 4:55:57 PM
what about "Sweetie"?
12/16/2011 4:56:05 PM
darling is gaybut had that said to me too
12/16/2011 4:57:59 PM
is that how like gay men call each other "fag"? lesbians call each other "darling"?
12/16/2011 4:59:04 PM
you guys are so jaded, who cares if they mean it?
12/16/2011 4:59:15 PM
I prefer sugartitsNo complaints thus far
12/16/2011 4:59:59 PM
I try not to use them on anyone but the lady friend. I do call a lot of people Mr. blah blah or Miss/Mrs. blah blah...but it's a tone that turns it into a power move Most of those aren't appropriate for female friends...make you sound like a grandpa talking to a little kid or a flamboyant flake.
12/16/2011 5:00:09 PM
say, "heya pal!"
12/16/2011 5:02:00 PM
I used babe subconsciously every now and then when I was dating this guy for awhile. He didn't like it at all...and would always point it out. "Will you stop doing that?" lolI guess "punk rockers" just aren't into that. I don't know...sometimes it just slips at the end of my sentences.
12/16/2011 5:03:21 PM
I swear I'd never do it...but I call the current gf "baby" all the time. When bartending, I would call girls "sweetheart"...subconsciously. I didn't like doing it, but it would just slip out. Nobody every seemed to mind and most liked it.

I occasionally greet my female friends with a "hello, gorgeous" or "hey, beautiful." But I wouldn't use babe, honey, or sweetheart; you have to be an old Southern woman to get away with that.
12/16/2011 5:05:51 PM
12/16/2011 5:33:09 PM
"Would you like a piece of pie, shug?"
12/16/2011 5:36:31 PM
Sometimes I wonder if my wife has forgotten my name. She only calls me "Baby," or "Babe."
12/16/2011 5:50:17 PM

12/16/2011 8:14:33 PM

12/16/2011 8:16:14 PM
I love it when you call me "Big Poppa"
12/16/2011 8:32:32 PM
my girlfriend calls me babe, i call her sweetie, usually we just call each other heyI do sometimes say "hey girlfriend" based on an incident where some dude tried to holler at her by saying that while she was putting gas in her car, then he saw me in the passenger seat and said "nice car" and went back into the gas station where the clerk laughed at himregarding the original question, no guy has pet names for female friends who they aren't trying to flirt with"honey" seems like either patronizing or some kind of gay affect. that top? those shoes? oh, honey, no. [Edited on December 16, 2011 at 11:57 PM. Reason : what]
12/16/2011 11:52:37 PM

12/17/2011 6:32:38 AM
I call acraw honey badger all the time.
12/17/2011 7:12:27 AM
What about names after foods?Pumpkin? Cupcake? PS-Noen you're engaged now?? WTF??

12/17/2011 9:54:50 AM
12/17/2011 10:05:29 AM
I use pet names a lot. I use sweetie, sweet heart and sugar for my girlfriend. Most of my female friends I just call "dude"... but most of them are in the Military and don't really care. If I'm trying to get a rise out of them I'll call one "Princess"... that usually pisses them off real good.
12/17/2011 1:48:17 PM
my wife won't let me call her anything except "darling princess"[Edited on December 17, 2011 at 1:59 PM. Reason : not even her name ]
12/17/2011 1:59:40 PM
The other day my wife was like "Babe...Babe..." then she finally came up and tapped me and said 'Hey, I called your name, twice."
12/17/2011 3:07:20 PM
i won't use "babe" or "hon," but i do sometimes call my female friends "miss."
12/17/2011 3:10:33 PM
i use girlfriendshe calls me boyfriendwe rarely use other names
12/17/2011 3:13:34 PM
I've said gorgeous and beautiful before, only when I mean it though, not trying to bang. I can bang without using petnames. An ex an I called each other honey, but only in a highly sarcastic way.
12/17/2011 3:16:35 PM
12/17/2011 3:26:06 PM
this is all i ever hear from hubby. sometimes i wonder if he even knows my name.
12/17/2011 3:27:29 PM
I refrain from using petnames and hate when other people use this about 99% of the time, unless it is understood that we are both being ridiculous. Are you my mom? No. do not call me baby. I am in complete favor of nicknames, because usually people have earned those.
12/17/2011 3:30:30 PM
"yo bitch, where's my snack?"
12/17/2011 3:32:24 PM
Sometimes I hear people say "bebe." Even worse than babe, imo
